All right that Levine interview sort of got me interested again. The time travel stuff is stupid, but I like the somewhat free roaming aspect he was talking about with the skyhooks, but its probably only for somewhat large mezzanines totally cut off from the rest of the city.

All he has to say now is "open world" (and not be full of shit) and its day 1

It's just so fabulously vibrant.

Love the art direction, hopefully the gameplay is good.

first few seconds were unintentionally funny, but the rest looked fun as ****

Looks mostly uninteresting apart from the setting and visuals.

I'm not sure if you all know what the first seconds are really about.

It looks like Rachet and Clank.

From everything said, it appears to be parallel universe crap. But as to exactly what theyre talking about, plot sounds kind of stupid so dont care

I'd rent that shit. but yeah I'm not spending $60 for this day 1. Bioshock 2 was kinda meh so I dunno about this one

Different developer. Bioshock 2 was made by the guys who are now making that XCOM FPS. This is being made by the guys who made Bioshock 1.

But yeah, I'll probably just give it a rent as well.

I didn't see anything cheesy or funny.

What the hell are you talking about?

The plot involves Elizabeth being able to rip open portals to a parallel universe.

Thats where the Infinite moniker comes from

Im also talking about yo momma

Wonder how the hell they're gonna explain that. Bioshock's plasmids were the result of gene splicing, but how does anyone obtain the power to rip open holes in time?

I'm not looking for realism, I'm just noting the Bioshock universe is getting wackier and wackier.

In the first seconds of the E3 trailer Elizabeth tells you to not let Songbird take her back to her "prison", what ever happens.

oh right, forgot about that. still its better to rent these less than 15 hr games

I didn't pay much attention to this one for a long time, but the unreleased demonstration created a lot of buzz at E3 this year. I saw this 2 minute preview of the full video yesterday, and I am fairly interested now.

The way the player seems to be interacting with the companion character feels a lot like the things Valve has been working on for so long. It remains to be seen how free the scripting is (for instance how many combinations of exploring that room are there, or does the NPC just wander around herself to predetermined areas, and how widespread is it across the game as a whole). But for now, I am definitely keeping my eye on it!

It is also interesting to see such a talkative player character in an FPS, usually I am not a fan of it because the dialogue is always so meaningless and rare that it seems to only harm the immersion rather than add to it. But in this case we have a character that seems as vocal as the other characters, and may actually add dimension to the story rather than just spouting random comments.

Maybe this is all taken from the beginning of the game? Bioshock 1's beginning was nothing but scripted sequences up until you made it to the medical district.

Either way, this game seems to be shaping up quite nicely. Booker's cynical remarks are great. Hopefully he doesn't start shouting one liners in combat or getting into a lame confrontation of words when he meets the game's antagonist.

Garrett from Thief voicing Booker? I caem.

Not sure about the female npc. The redesign was a good idea but dat cleavage? hmm

It appears Elizabeth is with you throughout the whole game, like Ashley from RE4 but maybe worse. Why escort missions are still viewed as anything but the death of fun is something I have been wondering

Heh

Full 15 minute demo later today on GT/Spike and utoob no doubt after it airs.

Maybe she's with you throughout the game, but you don't have to look after her. She's there to support you and I believe she can't permanently die in the game and make you lose too.

Impressive demo, though it is hard to tell how it all fits together yet. To what extent does the player have to play along with the acting, or does the player lose control of the camera repeatedly? The rail jumping looks quite fun though!

Looks fun, despite the heavy scripting in the story bits. Hoping god mode was on for that demo and they haven't copped out on player death again...

"Explore Ken Levine's strange new world"

no thanks

Yeah it was definitely on. You can see the health bar deplete, and then it stops depleting with just a couple pixels of red left. I was pretty worried until I noticed that.

The health bar is so far a mystery. I don't think it works like you'd assume. Check the extended Ken Levine interview from Gametrailers, it explains something about the scripted events which you asked about. But yeah, the player can decide to point his gun at the Vox Populi guy and make him go away. It doesn't have to happen.

The larger health bar looks to be regenerative while the two smaller bars are not. The little bars were probably vigor (plasmids) upgrades.

I wonder what would've happened if Booker didn't step in to stop the execution. That's what pretty much started the whole fight. It looked like the blimp part was avoidable had the player destroyed that flare thingy.

That chick is really annoying, it's a shame she'll follow us through the entire game :p

I think the tears are a cool concept (like when they went to the 1980s), but I don't know if this is the type of game I wanted to see them implemented in.
Combat looks very fast and fun, but other than that, not too interested.

If Booker hadn't used a tear earlier, he could have told Liz to spawn the turret to destroy the blimp. Or he could have used the rocket launcher.

This has the potential to be very interesting. The Skyhooks and tears seem like they could be fun concepts to mess around with. At any rate, at least there is a new setting I'm tired of Rapture.
