Bioshock freezes every few minutes

I've bought Bioshock during the holyday sale (t'was a nice deal!) and started playing it this week.

I do, however, have a problem with the game. Every few minutes, the game freezes for a few second and it becomes really annoying. I dunno if anyone else experienced the same problem, maybe someone here did and can help.

The problem appeared yesterday when I installed my new video card (however, I got the drivers from the website so they are the newest available).

My specs are:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+
4 gigs of Ram
Geforce Gt 220 video card
Realtek onboard sound card.

Try using the fire plasmid instead of the ice one.

roll back your driver and try it, if it works you know what the problem is.

if you want a newer driver see if there are any betas available for that card

Did you update it? There's only one patch. No guarantee that it'll fix your problems, but there's a few performance fixes in there.
