The winner of the Black Mesa Alienware PC auction has posted some exclusive media the mod team had included on the hard drive. From the Black Mesa forumshttp://forums.gamernode.com/showthread.php?t=12952, the winner says other media was included, but only a few bits of the content were new and post-worthy.[br]

Map quality is really, really good. My complaint would be that Residue Processing looks pretty silly. They got away with the 'green sludge' back in 1998, but now it just looks daft. Perhaps an upgrade to the more realistic, HL2 looking sludge?

I've got to agree with Samon, except if they have to keep the green sludge at least add a sort of hdr bloom to it, sort of like what the fires have. That would look cool, plus it would tell even newcomers to stay away from it.

It looks OK, that toxic "green sludge" is not that unrealistic as you may think, sometimes certain phosphorescent chemicals are used as an indicator in the radioactive substances...

So, all waste that Black Mesa produces is radioactive? What the hell are they feeding them?

oh screw what the sludge looks like :P overall it's lookin daymmmn fine to me!

The additional images are of an area in Blast Pit (continues to look superb) and the specimen insertion cart from Anomalous Materials (does the job, looks like a genuine piece of machinery).

Like the 'Main Grit chamber' area of Residue Processing. Probably because it looks as little like Residue Processing as is possible. Sludge just doesn't cut it IMO.

Can't wait to play Residue Processing, goddamn awesome chapter. Looks fantastic too.

V-Man's opinion on residue processing

I think Residue Processing was a bad chapter for a game series like Half Life, but I've seen worse parts in videogames.
Like those Sonic games where you have no clue wether your going in the right direction or not. :flame:

Just a place holder for now. Was waiting for any new media from these guys. Still looks like they're chugging away though. Maybe next year?

Residue Processing was absolutely horrible. D:

Man now I have to install half life and play it through to see if you are right....

Anyone else playing through it all for Ep: 2? I finished way to prematurely but still hungry for some story.

Ep 1 was like HL2 but a lot more polished and refined. The cinematic element shined through with interative story being told through cut scenes and Alyx character development from her little comments:
"It's like a zombine... get it? ok nevermind"

"arrrrghhhhh" look around "haha got ya"

If you were to skip ahead to Residue Processing to start off your game, it may actually be quite a bit better. True, you lose the one great part of RP ('I've lost all my weapons, but hey, i'm still alive!') But at least you also lose the less welcome sense of 'wait a minute, I played this chapter when it was called 'Unforeseen Consequences' and there weren't ridiculous conveyor belts hovering over rooms filled with nonsensical machinery'.

<3 I wuw uuu Black Mesa

Funny thing about HDR thou, that last time I asked they aren't having it. Phong? nope, not that either.

Meh, didn't like it either. Probably my least favorite section of the game.

That being said, everything but the cheesy green sludge (that's so 1998!) looks fuggin' awesome. :E

Looking good, but you silly guys haven't posted the new skinned Grunt and Turret :p

Really looking forward to this mod, but I've always felt they should have worked on the game sequentially and released sections at a time, and wasn't too happy when they said they would not do that. How long has it been now, 2.5 years?

Valve stated a long time ago that mod devs need to release their games as early as possible and just keep building on it and not try to get a completed product out in one shot...and they are right. Granted it's a bit tougher for single player...but thats why you release sections at a time.

It's looking good ! the green sludge lacks the fluorescent glow.. but it still looks pretty cool! And yes, the Residue Processing was a terrible chapter.
BM:S ftw.

Where do you see the skinned grunt ? I saw the skinned turret but can't find the skinned grunt.

im so sry, but i really have to say that the lighting for some maps are not nice at all. oh well, the hdr will cover it i guess..

the first image im puzzled, what is the purpose of the tank in the wall. Hmm doesnt seem right

I know what you mean, but not every prop has to be realistically placed. Some props are placed just to ad to the atmosphere.

Come on people; I thought we were past the days of bright green sludge. :|

More amazing work from these guys. Im going to say it everytime there is a media release. THESE GUYS NEED TO GET PAIDED!!!!

I already own HL1 and I'm not going to pay for graphics :P

Looks great! I like the "spill drains" beside the waste tanks, I see that the puzzle seems to have been changed somewhat, it won't be about timing jumps (thank goodness!).
The Xen crystal carrier looks great, hopefully they'll save some time and use the crystal from Half-life 2, in Eli's lab.

Even if this game will cost money, I'm more than 100% sure I'll buy it.

Looks good except for 2 things:
That's not powered combat vest!
He looks like he's just seen goatse for the first time. I can't fight soldiers when they're looking at me like that. I'll burst out laughing.

Oh God, NOT RESIDUE PROCESSING! I hated that level so terribly, so many conveyer belts and the levels... the whole thing ended me having a spitting headache. D:

Otherwise, the media looks very nice indeed! *chokes at the site of Residue Processing*
