Black Mesa: Who was responsible?

Throughout HL1, nobody really knows who caused the resonance cascade and was responsible for all of the problems. It could even have been Gordon himself ("I'd sure like to get my hands on those responsible for this mess" - Barney).

So I ask you, whose fault do you think it was? And was it deliberate or an accident? It's time to choose. :cheese: Feel free to explain your opinions. With luck we should get some interesting conspiricy theories.

Note: Sorry for such an exhuastive poll, but I wanted to make sure every opinion was covered.

I'm pretty sure he orchestarted the entire game's events. With, or without, the administrator's guidance.

i think its the scientists....they saw anomalies and dangers in the preliminary stages of the operation(soem of them talk about it before you even get in the room) but they ignore the several warnings(the final one being the one he disregards at like 40-60% power) and continue with the experiment. Any experimental scientist(except maybe a low-tech kitchen scientist) realizes the immense dangers involved if ANYTHING goes the slightest bit off course, and at the moment anything does deviate from the planned operation he/she halts the experiment immediately. It is possible that they were under strict orders from the administrator or G-Man to proceed at all costs, but I don't think anyone besides those few scientists knew of the malfunctions.

Of course, none of that means it isn't possible that the G-Man had some sneaky part in it . . . maybe like Elijah in Unbreakable . . . willing to go to any lengths to find the world's hero(Gordon Freeman).

IMO, someone pushed the scientists because they wanted this to happen, (maybe not on this scale) and the first thought is the G-man- but the G-man doesnt seem that powerful so im going with the administraightor.

thats intrusting, but i believe he also said that we DID meet / or see the administrator? maybe gina?

as for gordon, i dont at all think it was him, i mean what'd he do?

IT was the Admin and the Gman think about it. The Gman seemed quite content to have control of zen. While obviously the Gman can't be working alone thus the Admin.

Anyone think it's weird they mastered teleporting shortly after Gordon killed the Nihilanth. So that must mean that the Goverment/Admin/Gman had been working on taking Zen for quite some time.

I think that the Administrator is responsible for what went wrong. One of the biggest reasons is two quotes that the scientists say. One is "I suspected this would happen but the Administrator would not listen..." and "The Administrator is very concerned that we get a conclusive analysis of today’s sample." Makes you wonder why the Administrator was so strict about having the experiment done. Gordon was just the pawn in the Administrator's evil plans. I think the G-Man has something to do with it too but there isn't enough information to conclude who he really is and what his intentions are.

G-man doesn't seem to be anyones' lackey though. He must be second in command to the admin, or some other high-type rank.
