No, not a racism thread.

Black and White, the one and only god sim ever made. I think. Did you play it? Did you enjoy chucking flaming babies at enemie villages? Did you love to watch your benevolant monkey dance and laugh and play with the villagers while out of its sight you dropped rocks on cows and then dropped cows and rocks on people? Did you make massive bonfires with trees then take the enemy's grain and dump it on it? Did you poision the enemy grain?

(I'm asking whether you've played Black and White, if your wondering. and if you're hyped about B&W2. Woo, Total War with seige Cows!)
 
Yes, I loved it. I loved bowling large boulders from the top of mountains and trying to hit huts with them. When they hit, they made an awesome mess.

You seen Black and White 2 screenshots? I can't wait.
 
I liked B&W to an extent, but it eventually became dull.

B&W2 sounds like the shiznit though.
 
I wanted this game. allot. never had the chance to play it... then i read in pcgamer that #2 was in the works, but thats taking its sweet time :( so im in limbo between games...

aaw that wolf thing looks really friendly... i know i'd have him as a snarling beast though :D It's looking good, maybe it'll be out this year... christmas maybe... :cat:
 
I played and liked B&W. At the time, I thought it was a beautiful game. Im looking forward to the second one as well.

wow, references to the bible, implying, in the same simplistic and effective way god described the world, that Black and white 2 is an excellent achievement. Could you also be implying, through the use of hidden referances to the bible, that you are in fact God, because you played the Black and white games? If so, I agree. B&W gives you the most satisfying sense of control. It allowed you to command, to punish, to build- to destroy. No other game gives you the complete superioirity that Black and White did. Go B&W!
 
Black and White was one of the worst games ever!

The stupid tamigochi creature that you had to baby sit never learned what you were trying to teach it. Not that it mattered because halfway through the game it was taken away from you anyway.

And the villagers were the dumbest things around. "We need food" "We need shelter" "We need children". WTF? This isn't the duty of a god!

As for the mini games, what a load of shit. In the opening credits a child is drowning and it's parents call for your aid. Your disembodied hand then swoops down and saves said child. All well and good.

However, half an hour into the game a similar thing arises. Several fishermen are swept out to sea and are drowning.

'OK! A chance to show off my godly powers!' I think. WRONG!

It seems that I have to get my stupid creature to pick the people out of the water.That is if it doesnt get bored and wander off, or eat the people, or throw them further into the sea, or better yet curl up next to them somehow levitating on water and fall asleep!

Then there are the worshippers, people who provide you with power through their prayers so you can perform magic. Except that most of the time you had to constantly be there providing them with food, therefore using most of your magic up. If you didn't then these selfless, and suicidally stupid worshippers would stay until they died of hunger.

What a load of shit.
 
A good example of what happens when you spend to much time on graphics, physics, and features, but not enough time on gameplay. I personally loved the game, but it really started to get dull on the level when your creature gets taken away.

Luckily it looks like theyre gonna fix up those kinds of problems this time around, and I'll be getting it for sure. Any idea when it'll be out?
 
I hate Black and White with just about every fiber of my being. Obviously a lot of people enjoyed it. I just don't see the appeal. To each their own.
 
I recently purchased B&W again (only £5) and it is a great game even now, however it does tire quite easily. ( + online no loknger works:'( ) B&W2 however looks fantizzletastic.
 
Is B&W1 still worth playing today? I remember getting it when it came out and thought it was pretty decent, although I wasn't entirely sure what I was meant to be doing half the time. I remember getting enough wood for some guys to build a boat, but didn't get too much further.

lol! I remember those guys. After they built their boat and started to sail off, I threw a boulder at them and sunk their ship.

LOL. They also sang an incredibly annoying song before they left. They deserved that boulder.

They came back on the 5th island with a special creature that pwned as a reward for helping them earlier. I think it was a Polar Bear.

Also: this looks great. I was always neutral though, because I was good and bad usually at the same time (feed villagers, allow them to have kids... then feed said children to creature and reward him).
 
I loved B&W.
One of the best god sims ever made, next to Dungeon Keeper 1 + 2.
I can see why it wouldn't really appeal to alot of people.
But if all goes to plan, B&W2 will fix all of the wrongs of B&W1.

can you tell me tips to beat the game quickly whiout cheats?

also can you give me some tips cuz I seriously dont know exactly what to do in the game
 
I played it when it came out - borrowed my friend's copy because his computer got messed up. I made it to the 4th land and got kinda stuck. Damned shields blocking influence. I kinda found it hard to impress people in other towns to make them worship me at the end there. That's when your creature gets cursed with something...I don't know what happens though. Every so often he just looks sick.
 
Awww man, B&W is a classic. I bought it the minute it was released. I still today have fond memories of chucking people and throwing stones at the enemy. Fun fun times
 
The monkey kicks ass. Chose him because he's a quick learner.

Nothing like him having a meteor thrown at him my a creature, only for him to throw it back at an enemy village!
 
The stone throwing was mostly annoying actually. Trying to get them to hit the right spot was more down to fluke...
