Ok, lets get one thing straight – I don’t like any of yous and I doubt very much that anyone here would so much as spit on me if I was on fire… Oh, wait – that’s not true – I love everyone, particularly all my friends at HL2.net – so please – be gentile with your flames:

Well – the question is “does the mask look too dark” – the body its attached to will not be the one its used with in the mod and the mask isn’t 100% complete yet itself (i.e. there are no straps on it to keep it stuck to the guys face plus no filter has been attached yet).
But again, “does the mask look too dark” – enjoy/ tolerate/ devoir!

Oh - and our webbie will be online this Sat - look out for da big opening - we're serving marshmallows! :bounce:

Well is the mask intended to be black? if so no, the darkness is fine... I would pick out the stitching a little more however, but other than that GJ

i think the mask looks fine... by the way tat model has some nice textures on it

yep, very nice photo textures :)

tis men't to be black my friend - but I twas concerned that it appeared to dark - so the details in the skin could not be seen. - and thanks, finally a pro-photo man :afro: lol - normal maps - pa! :naughty: oops - better take that one back... ahem.

what is a photo texture? im not understanding... im a newb to texturing stuff

Means rather than paint a texture from scratch I took photographs and applied them onto the skin. Not just as straight forward as that but that’s essentially it. I think they look better than painted textures in Photoshop (as sometimes they tend to look kinda – erm – plasticy – well at least mine do - ahem) which is why I’m using them for this project.

well i think that photo textures look awesome, why would you not use them?

Well – means your limited somewhat more than if you paint one yourself (i.e. its harder to say change patterns or remove camo from objects like assault vests etc – without actually painting over them) – plus some people regard it as cheating… I think they look more realistic than painted textures – though some people are very good at painting and can make very convincing skins…

wry nice bill, once thing.. its not too dark, its a bit too shiny.

BTW, thank for the fast response to my last mail. web page is looking very good

i think parts of it are a little too dark (the ends of the mouth pieces and the edges of the mask)

although it doesn't matter, i don't paticularly like the purple balaclava :D

hmmm... does look a bit too colourful for such a shady character - will desaturate it a tad and darken it up :)

I think it is probably too dark. One can't really tell where the mask ends and the balaclava begins.
In reality, even the blackest things are rarely pure black, so long as there's a light source.
Ambient light and reflections would make it a (very, very) dark grey, and the seams and outlines should be visible.
It looks quite good though, but the black really does kind of detract.

Will lighten me 'ole texture in Photoshop a bit - thanks for your input guys! now, to return to my secret layer :bounce:

may I suggest adding some sort of definiton in the headwrap where the straps from the mask would be?

To me it looks as if the mask is just suctioned to his face.

Yea – I amuse myself far to much sometimes… anywho!
… mask isn’t 100% complete yet itself (i.e. there are no straps on it to keep it stuck to the guys face plus no filter has been attached yet).
At the moment the character is just sucking in really hard to keep the mask on! ;) – will post a newer version quite soon – tata!

looks awesome but i would either lighten up the mask or darken the rest, to give it a more even look overall

I can't even see ur gas mask or whatever it is....(don't know because it don't show up)(....sorry....:(

I see it now....looks fine....i really like ur skins...very realistic...even if they are photoskins....i think it takes skill either way to make em urself or to photoskin em.....most people who try photoskining end up with a really retarded looking model....urs look great. i love it.
