Blade3D i7 fog bug

Half-Life 1.1.1.0

Laptop:
AMD k6-2 433MHz
56MB RAM
Trident Cyberblade3d i7 8mb (latest drivers)
Via AC'97
10GB HD

OpenGL is far too slow on the Blade3d card, so I use Direct3d.

One problem - when I enter the water, or any fog-related space, everything else but the fog looks black. This includes the BSP textures and the model textures, but NOT hud.

Anyone knows what's going on and what cvar/setting could possibly fix this?

Oh and my video drivers don't allow much for customization, just edge anti-aliasing and vsync.

And no it's a laptop, i can't do anything about my video card...which works well with Max Payne.
 
Half-Life has never been very good with direct3d...DoD is completley unplayable with D3D, so not surprising your getting wierd stuff.
