"I am sure that there are people in Iran in the leadership who believe the world is sufficiently distracted with everything else that we cannot afford the time to focus on this issue. I think they will be making a very big mistake if they do that," Mr Blair said.

"If they continue down this path, then people are going to believe that they are a real threat to our world security and peace."

Responding to claims of deliberate distortions, Mr Bush accused his critics of "trying to rewrite history" and insisted "there is no doubt in my mind" that Saddam "was a threat to world peace".

Wow nice to know world peace is being looked after.

Its soooo predictable that they are going to goto war with Iran at some point. Its almost preconceived, it quite amazing how Iran keeps encouraging it, you would think that their president was dumb or wanted to start friction.

Clarky003, they will never attack Iran, never. First of all, the US can barely handle Iraq. Iran with a population of almost seventy million people, and four times the size of Iraq: an invasion is absolutely out of the equation. Besides Bush's poor handling of Iraq, and his approval ratings in the pits, he couldn't possibly muster up the support for another war. Oh and not to mention the fact that Iran has strong ties with Russia, China and European firms. Once the beards get their nukes and ICBMs it's over, they'll stay in power forever.

And we all remember the last time the US attempted military action in Iran, what a great success that was.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like nothing more than to see the USA "liberate" Iran and shoot the mollahs one by one in the neck but I don't see it happening in my lifetime.

What an interesting way of putting it :hmph:

Although I do agree with what you said about the problems Blair and Bush will have trying to find much support, but then that didn't stop them last time.

Last time was completely different, they were capitalizing on the Afghan campaign's success. Iran and Iraq may sound alike but they're two completely different settings, I'm not pretending to be an arm chair general but a ground assault is impossible and air strikes or sanctions would just rally the population around the regime. I honestly don't know if there's any solution but if there is one, I'm sure the Mossad is already working on it.
