Hey everyone :)

I'm starting development on a new mod and would like to start assembling the team, but you already know that, so let me introduce the mod to you. Here is the opening paragraph of the game overview:

Bloodthirst is a multiplayer First-Person modification for Half-Life 2 set in a realistic but dark near future that portrays a battle to the death between a reborn vampire clan and secretive slayer sect. Bloodthirst will make use of the latest technology available in the Source engine to create a very fast paced and visually thrilling team-based action experience.

Well, first off, it sounds like CS with vampires and vamp slayers instead of terrorists and counter terrorists. Its quite amusing that the names are similar.

None the less, if you actually suceed with this, it could be an interresting twist to the same old theme.

There is one glaring problem though, Bullet Time. Do you plan on slowing everyone elses games down to compensate for the BT, or have the vampires on a different time mode that allows them to do bullet time...there is the problem, no matter how you deal with it, the one player will be at a disadvantage or it will slow down gameplay. Im not sure of a way to make it work, and personally I would avoid a feature like that.

Good luck, but remember a variation to CS is still CS at the core. :P

Heh.. well the gameplay I'm thinking off would be very much different to Counter-Strike. CS is a slow tactical shooter, and since vampires won't actually have ranged weapons this is going to be quite different... heck, more Quake 3 than CS ;) I suppose the biggest comparison can be made would be to Vampire Slayer mod for Half-Life.

I would like to implement bullet time the same way the talented guys who've created The Specialists mod did. There is an area of a effect, and although you will be slowed down on many occasions by other people triggering it off, it actually surprisingly works very well and doesn't have a real disadvantage to the gameplay.
 
This idea actually sounds really good, a lot like Vampire Slayer for Half-Life but with a few cool twists and new ideas. I especially like the way you get to play as helpless civilians after you get killed during the round, should be fun if you can pull it off. And believe me, it's NOT like CS !
