Blue Shift released

wow, im only on my laptop right now, does anyone know it it includes the HD pack?

Agh- i have the retail collectors edition, but i cant download it- right? Only for silver/gold packages?

You can download the HD pack on filefront in any case.

J_Tweedy, as long as you have HL1, whichever edition, you can download it. (nevermind, I lied)

Anyone know the reason for the Steam differences between this and Opposing Force?

I mean, the icon isn't different, not even recoloured (Minor thing but I like to tell the differences from a glance) like Opposing Force, and it's named Half-Life: Blue Shift, whereas Opposing Force is just that.

Any possible reasons?

Wow simonomis, can you rephrase that I just can't understand no matter how many times I read it.

The icon is orange while the Opposing Force one is yellow, and they have different names.

And WTF, I just clicked it and it said I'm ready to play! STEAM IS INSANE I TELL YOU, IT'S INSANE! 0 Download time!

You have HL1, right?

Yeah, but I'd prefer it if it was blue. Minor cosmetic thing, perhaps Valve were a little lazy. Same goes for the Sourcified versions of games. Obsessed with icons I rarely see.

And the name thing, I'd prefer either Half-Life: Blue Shift, Half-Life: Opposing Force, or no Half-Life in front of both. Again, minor cosmetic thing, just adds a little correlation.

ah yup- HL Source- i dont have it installed though i think- would that be it?
Since the Blue Shift retail was a standalone, i figured this download would be- wrong i guess?

HL:S is for Silver\Gold
Blue Shift is for everybody who owns HL or HL2 Silver\Gold.

lol "Couple of weeks" more like "Couple of months"

I KNEW I should've bought the Half-Life: Generation pack instead of The One Ring. POOOOOOO.

Don't buy generations - you get the same stuff over steam when you just buy HL1 on its own. Or you could buy the "Valve Premier Pack" over steam.

This is off-topic, but I just wanted to point something out.

I love your quote in your signature Suicide42. That is definetely one of my favorite books.

I bought HL2 some months ago in this special pack that included Hl1: Source, CounterStrike: Source and HL2, along with a HL2 tee shirt and small guide book. I forget what it was called. It cost like 80 dollars. When I log onto Steam I dont get Blue Shift downloading. It seems like I should be getting it since I bought the super deluxe pack or whatever. What do I have to do to get it to download??

That is a retail pack. And notice how HL1 isn't on that list? (I'm not talking about HL1:S) Guess what. To get Blue Shift, you must own HL1.

I have my BS and OP4 CDs in the desk in front of me, now if only I could find my HL1 CD.

He got the retail special package. Half-Life is not included with that.

If you own Half-Life 1, (Not Half-Life Source) and it's installed on Steam, then you'll get Blue Shift.

If you still don't understand, forget it.

I have a HL1 disk...but I dont have the box with the cd code or whatever you need to install it again (got a new computer a few years ago). I will try intsalling it anyway and see what happens. (Just put the cd in my drive and hope for the best). At worst I can always go out and get a new Hl1. Is Blue Shift done in Source? would seem odd if it required Hl1 then. Or maybe they are just distributing the original Blueshift? Anyway, thanks for the replies.

That they are.

If you have an Opposing Force or Blue Shift CD Key, i've heard that they may work to entitle you to the HL1 package on Steam.
