So this really awesome thing has been happening to my HTPC for the last week or so...
Randomly, the computer will reboot on its own. When this happens, I'll get the "invalid system disk" error in CMOS, and the HDD lgith will be stuck on. I hit the reset button, and everything boots fine. When Vista comes back up, I get the message saying that windows has recovered from an error, and "bluescreen" is the program that caused it, but I don't see any other related errors in the event logs.
I've run scandisk (it corrected errors); the system passed a memtest86 test, and I'm currently running the HDD through the vendor's diagnostic utility. Any other ideas I can try if it passes?
Here are my specs:
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-MA69GM-S2H AM2 AMD 690G HDMI Micro ATX
Memory: G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) - note: first set was RMA'd
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Brisbane 2.2GHz Socket AM2
HDD: SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
Video: eVGA 7900GS
Power Supply: APEVIA ATX-CW500WP4 500W
Tuner: Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600
OS: Vista Home Premium SP1
