The "depth of field" in this is a real strain on the eyes and i am seeing complain threads popping up on several other gaming forums.Everything seems to be covered in a blurry fuzz. And not just far off distant objects.
I have no problems with any of my other 360 games.
I've tried several resolutions on my 19" wide screen LCD but it's still there.
They should've added an option to disable the blur.I don't care about the visuals as long as it's not distracting the **** out of me.

Was going to make a thread myself on the blur.

It's bothering me a bit too :o And is exacerbated because I am so tired.

It's weird.....but it makes things more dreamlike and immersive so I'm okay with it.

I sit eye level with a PC LCD monitor so to me, everything is sharp, crisp and clean. It looks amazing.

It's not that blurry and I'm upscaling from 1280 x 1024 widescreen to 1680 x 1050.

I wish Microsoft would support my monitor's resolution. :(

I've gotten used to it mostly. What I haven't gotten used to are the trees. They just don't seem to fit in... at all.

I hate stuff like that. They had that stupid blur when going fast in SA that they wouldn't let you turn off either. I remember blur you could turn off in GTA III for the PS2.

I just wear my glasses while playing.
Everything seems sharp.

Same here.

It's more noticeable in some places than others. On the main stretch of road outside of your safehouse, if you look down to the left on a sunny day the sunlight and shadows on the street will look pretty jarring, for example. I notice this every second time I come out. Also, I'm not sure, but I've seen a couple of things that lead me to believe that the game world would look a little less vibrant without it on (and a lot laggier).

Anyway, can't say it bothers me much. Think of it as the New York smog cloud. :P

It hasn't been bothering me too much. I think it's a pretty marked improvement from GTA SA and VC, less stark.

Playing the game more, I'm finding that the blurriness isn't bothering me at all anymore, since I don't focus on it and when I do, I kind of like it now...

It's weird, going from something you don't like and then somehow it grows on you into something pleasant.

I can only hope that they can patch it.
How is patching when it comes to 360 games anyway?
I haven't used my 360 much.

They won't patch it. It's not a bug. It's a feature.

/me is GTA fanboy

They could patch in a "remove blur" option, but it'd probably halve the framerate.

How exactly though does the blur filter control the frame rate? I heard it does, but I don't know how. I always used to think special stuff like that was more GPU intensive. I mean, you're still getting the same number of polygons rendered by the camera.

Is it because it reduces the resolution of the textures?

Yep, basically it hides all the distant textures. If the blur filter was off, you'd get some f'ugly looking distant textures - or on the other hand, great looking textures but very low FPS.

The blur doesn't bother me, kind of like it - I've got used to the graphics now.

Its more emmersive, but I do have to agree, im sat about 2-3 metres away from my TV and ive been getting serious eye ache toward the end of the day (yes ive been playing it most of the day, so what) since I got it.
