Anyone know how to ge tit working with STEAM? Nostalgia is great but those old models really look crappy nowadays and it seems that no matter what i do, i cant get them to work. Ive installed it off the blueshift cd into the right directory. I even tried copying the pak files and such from my old halflife folder.

Why not just get it working without steam? I don't think I've ever seen a multiplayer server for BS and if you only want single player then don't even worry about steam.

To get the high-definition models in Steam Half-Life, you will need a program that can read pak files. You will need to open the high-definition pak file (pak1.pak?). Inside it, you will see three directories: sound, sprites and models. You will need to extract those directories to your "program files\steam\steamapps\your@email\half-life\valve" directory.

Ok so something weird has happened. Ive manage to get it working...at least, half working, in sven coop 3 that is. For some reason, only the characters, (barney etc) are being updated. THe weapons are still the old versions. This is really crazy. To be honest, i couldnt are less about original Hl, i jsut want it to work properly in Sven Coop. Ive psoted in thier forums too, but im playing the numbers game here. Basically, if i post this enough times in enough places, then im bound to get the right answer.

The Sven Coop team are probably using their own versions of the weapon models that are overriding the HD pack ones.

How comes in my version of HL I have the little machine gun which the marines use?

Thats becuase you don't have the hi-definition pack. It comes with BlueShift. Anyway, the marines carry those guns too :)

Its much more hi-def than original HL. HL for PS2 has the hi-def pack (I think, it looks better than original).

While we're at it, is there a site that does weapon replacements for Half-Life like some do for CS?

so what is the best way to get the high def pack to work on steam... and why doesn't blue shift show up in my games? I want to have the high def on steam so i can play in 1200 by 1600 res

I guess it would be illegal to upload the HD .pak. What you have to do to get it working is install WON HL, install the hidef pack, collect all the files needed and move them across.

well. than i am the king of lazyness cause i am not going to do that.. is Valve planing on including the High Def pack and blueshift anytime soon?

Wrong! The PS2 version acctually uses the SD (super definition pack) which is even higher detail. Characters hvae facial animations and such. You can get some of the PS2 models from here:
http://www.hlmodels.cjb.net/
And here:
http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~aow/news.php?game=sven
Example of a Scientist from SD Pack:
http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~aow/im.../monsters/scientist/scientist_aiscientist.jpg

They don't have facial animations after u install the high def pack that comes with Blue Shift ?

Not decent ones...just a more advanced version of hte mouth open and close of the original.

lol...god I love the mouth bone animation system in Counter-Strike...just walk up to your friend and tell him to yell at the top of his/her lungs...lmfao

Is there a way to implement the SD models downloaded to play in single player
half life?

Mmhmm, My HLSP is pretty tripped out with custom stuff. Almost like a new experience. Just gotta put the models in the right place. Almost all of them a reverse compatable between HL and SC.

Where
the hell
did
you
find those
MODELS!

I WANT THEM NOW!! SEXXORZ OMG!Q!ED_@J(r-9j

You can download them from the links that were posted above. Wht I want to know is how do you get blur effects in HL1??

What about the USP and Shotgun he has, I cant find that anywhere.

A lot of the models I got can be found here:
http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~aow/news.php?game=sven
For a lot of the other models look into these forums (requires you have an account):
http://www.hl-improvement.com/forums/
For the Blur Effect, go to this thread (once again, requires an account):
http://www.hl-improvement.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3184
And finally, for detail textures go here (account again):
http://www.hl-improvement.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1522
Hope that'll do it for you! Just search around the Model Releases forum for some of the best models and search the Other Releases forum for things like textures and sprites.
Oh, and Super definition Gordon loves you!

Man you are awesome for doing that! Thanks a heap SnowBall.
No problem!
And to get them to work with won, you should just have to put any model files in the half-life/valve/models folder and you shoudl be set. Though many of them wont look right unless you have the transparency dll's (something that comes with steam).

What about the player models.....

I cant find any folder for them....

And the link to DL VRU is down.

You guys should see what the Half-Life improvment team are doing to HLSP. More variations of Barney, Otis is being put in it, all models are being upgraded, many textures will have specific detail textures for them, models for the Health, and HEV chargers, and well as models for the Retinal Scanner. Barney will be able to carry a larger veriety of weapons (shotgun, pistol, magnum). There will be more scientists. Delimbing will be possible. Accuracy adjusting like CS has and many many more features. Looks extremely promising. They said they'll probably convert their version of HLSP to source as well when it becomes available.

EDIT: Player models are hard to find, the only one I know of that works with HLDM is the default player model (helmet). PM me if you want it.
