A broadband company :)

I don't want to play online, i want to use the software i just bought, simple.

I have bought many pc games and have never been forced to stay online to verify the game, whats the point of the product key, it's just upsurd.

Sorry to ruin your thread lloyd, just want to be able to use what i bought, it's almost like they don't want you to play the game.

If you don't want to hear from me again, don't respond to this anymore, just make your software more easily usable.

We're not Valve Software. We're a fansite.
Direct your support request elsewhere.

You do realise that a) it says internet connection as a minimum requirement on the box, and b) this is not a Valve site so no-one on here can make the software "more easily usable".

Email Valve if you're having problems/post on the steam forums

You're correct, you guys can't fix the problem, i wanted to hopefully inform any new possible buyers that this software is not user friendly.

I'm sure someone from steam or a dialup gamer will possible see this or atleast i will have saved someone else from the waste of time this has become, good day then.

Except there's several hundred thousand (maybe even in the millions now) people who aren't having the same problem as you.

Contact Valve for support. Post on the Steam forums. Stop whining here about what is obviously PEBCAK.

Yes, helicopters are fun.

it says internet connection as a minimum requirement on the box

Yeah, but in really small letters in a really small box near the bottom, and you might easily make the mistake of thinking that meant jsut for online play.

Actually, thinking about it again, i have never seen a helicopter chase you around and drop mines on you.

Sure most of the level(s) were scripted but they were still awesome.

And Angerey, once more, We're not Valve, we can't do anything about the software, it has the warning and masses and masses of media about it, and we can't do a damned thing. Whine somewhere else.

I must admit the rego thing over the net was quite a pain, but I s'pose it's a good way to stop a fair number of theives.
The water hazard level was awesome. I especially liked the last part of the level. THE absolute end of it, and the beginning of the next one. That last bit absolutely knocked me off my chair. Amazing. All of that hours of internet was not wasted, even if just for that bit. Just a bit obsessed... :p

You have to have an internet connection ONLY for activation if I remember. Instead of whining about needing an internet connect, use the internet connect that you are USING to bitch about it to active the damn game.

I'm sure someone from steam or a dialup gamer will possible see this or atleast i will have saved someone else from the waste of time this has become, good day then.
Im a dial-up gamer and have had 0 problems so far actually.

Though Angery maybe if you tell us whats exactly wrong we could help you......like we do to many other people.

Theres not much else that can go wrong with it..

Unless you've downloaded an illegal version of it, not much can go wrong with it...

You shouldn't buy games without finding out more about it, I always read reviews before deciding whether or not to buy a game.

I don't know about online/offline problems. I play offline and have no problems. ---- and Jintor, helicopters do chase you and drop mines on you in Water Hazard. Maybe you missed that bit, tho' I don't know how.

If you don't have broadband internet, that is.. wich is..almost no one.

But, maybe you aren't able to get broadband internet in the area you live, and in that case, yes, steam might not be user friendly.

But to everyone WITH broadband, steam is nothing but user friendly imo.
