Boiling point seems to be everything that Stalker promises to be, although without the life simulation and eye candy. The graphics at first were a little weak in comparison to other modern games but the game premise more than makes up for it.

"While the graphics may not be totally up to the standard set by Far Cry, the freedom is certainly there, while the scope is much larger: The game world measures 625 square kilometres – in one streaming level.

This means there's be no loading time while travelling around. Add to that a high degree of freedom in regards to accepting missions, befriending factions and moving around. "

"do you feel it is hard to live up to the current standard of technology like the Source and Doom 3 engines?

Sergey Zabaryansky: Honestly all these guys did a great job on high-end graphics – but our focus is much more set to providing a very, very free game world, which I suppose is in direct contrast to the engines you mention. For us, there is no way to provide a Source graphics level in a game for 2005 that uses a 625 square kilometres big streaming game world. "

it's a cross between Far cry/stalker and gta. So what do you all think? It seems european developers are focusing on gameplay unlike their american counterparts that seem to be focusing on graphics (I guess money has a big reason why).

have they seen something of the game I haven't, because those screensshots look pretty good to me. Not the "Oh wow its so amazing I want to cry" level, but still quite good.

Sounds like a good game, thanks for pointing it out.

ya I too think the graphics are hardly crappy ..but the last time someone posted a thread here, all anybody talked about is how the graphics are not as good as <insert game here>

personally I welcome a change from the traditional fps, which in my opinion is getting a little stagnant

looks nice alright, heard about awhile ago,its about drug smuggling or something, whens the release date

Sounds interesting and definitely worth a look. I know that site probably had this info, but do you know when we can expect it to hit the market?

I think this summer. Apparently you can take drugs in the game ..well the setting IS columbia

I'm looking forward to working for the CIA in-game and then stabbing them in the back when the opportunity presents itself .."EAT LEAD CIA!!"

The graphics look great to me, but the HUD seems a lot like the Deus Ex HUD. In fact, the knife even looks like the Far Cry knife! I love open-ended games like this, so here's to a great game!

heh you may want a doctor to look at that ;) ...try to get better :)

snow? you brits dont have snow!!! well, not compared to us :E *stern brushes off entrance to igloo*

last week it was -28 C with the windchill ..and that's an average february temp ...although this year has been milder than usual it's not unusual for night time temperatures to hit - 40 with the windchill

Well theres a cloud bigger than France aheading our way and its set to stay here for a while...its flying over across Denmark at the moment I think.

Britain did used to get more snow a while back, but we just happen to have been going through a mild time recently. Not much extreme either way.

Oh and yes Boiling Point.
