"In a three-class cabin layout, the A380 will carry 555 passengers — 33 percent more than the plane it is designed to displace, Boeing's veteran 747. The A380 has 49 percent more floor space — leaving additional room for features such as on-board shops, bars, casinos or even nurseries.

On a full tank, it will also carry passengers 5 percent farther than Boeing's longest-range jumbo, Airbus claims, producing costs per passenger that are up to one-fifth below its rival's."

Now we Europeans have ze biggest p***s!!11one

Well... :hmph:

Well the 747 have done a great job though for SO many years its been on top, respects.

yeah but i dont really feel safe on really big planes, they just dont seem trustable. Its a good advancement though, alot more peopl will be able to travel in one flight so conjestion in airports *should* go down

Yah but doesn anybody notice how when they make adverts for it you always see, you will have bars, or libraries on the plane. I'mean you don't have to be a genius to see thats bull, like any company is not going to use that space for seats. I mean how else could it carry 550 passangers and be more low cost.

This plane wont sell. Currently there is no airport in the world with the gate facilities to cater for them. Any airport willing to take them will have to spend a considerable amount beforehand upgrading the runways and the gates.

They have already got 149 orders.

Yeah, if you read the article, you'd have seen a lot of airports are upgrading to put double decker ramps on and the works. It also uses Rolls Royce engines, which are made in my home city. The jobs are really going to bring back some of the many jobs that were lost around here \o/

They say Munich is ready, Frankfurt currently upgrading.

They need to sell over 250 to make profits.

That won't take long. These are initial sales, and the plane has yet to take off. It'll hit 250 before you know it.

I want an A380 for intercontinental travels and a 7E7 Dreamliner for transnational.
