:E

1984, very good book written about the future(1984)....just read it.

You mean like toilet paper? Dude! that's gross! :D

Seriousely though the last book i read was 10 years ago (3 if you count school books). And then i got my computer and it went away :p

1984...how wrong did Orwell get it...lol.

Another good read is "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley...."Soma..." oh yeah. "Are you engaging tonight?"...hahaha...How I wish I was an Alpha...some of those Beta girls are hot!

Why is this in the HL2 forum?

I read everynight before I go to bed, and am happy that I do. Gotta stay sharp! :p

This 1984 sounds interesting...

For the older readers I suggest Aldous Huxley's 'Brave New World'

The two ones are:

George Orwells "1984" and Steven Kings "Mist" (possibably "The Mist")

I recommend "Half-life Manual" a very good book that really explains alot of things for you.

To spare you some trouble, Stephen King's "The Mist" is one of the stories in his book, "Skeleton Crew." I plan on borrowing it from my Public Library soon.

well even though this is completely OT...

i highly recommend The Stand and Hearts in Atlantis, both by Stephen King. also definitely read the Ender Saga by Orson Scott Card.

and I've been meaning to read 1984...maybe i'll pay my local library a visit tomorrow.

The picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde (excellent)
The Discovery of Heaven by Harry Mullisch (excellent)
1984 by George Orwell (excellent)

Those are all "must reads"

edit - didn't read about HL story line similarity requirement

I'm reading "Wizard and Glass", Book IV of Stephen King's 7 part Dark Tower series - the series has been a simply wonderful mind bending trip into a world both like and unlike our own.

If you're interested in the genre of City 17 like societies then you can't go wrong with either Orwell's 1984 or Huxley's Brave New World.

And for a film, I suggest Terry Gilliam's "Brazil" - a wonderfuly twisted dark comedy.

If you only read one book in your entire life, it should be George Orwell's 1984
IMHO
Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is pretty good too.
