I did a quick search and couldn't find anything.

How can I edit the bot names???


Seriously Im sick and ^#@$&@ tired of getting owned by CONNER or JIMMY or DAVE or WYATT.


GIMME SOME MORE l337 names!

good question..I was wondering the same thing myself..also where do I change the amount of cash you start with?

the cash is in the game options menu.

as for the bots, i don't think you can change their names, but in the bot menu, there is an option to put a name prefix on all of them. this is where you put ur crazy 733+ stuff.

I've found a way to change the names and even their personalities.

You have to find a program called GCF Scape, open the Counter Strike Shared GCF file, find the botprofile.db and extract it. Open it with NOTEPAD.EXE and GO WILD!!

Names are there, their personalites, their skills (trust me, I'm tunin the expert down) and especially the names!

I just don't know how to put the db file back into the gcf file once GCF SCAPE opens the GCF file.

UPDATE: do NOT rename the names in the db file as for some reason CS:S will not spawn the bots --- it will say in the console "cannot spawn ...bot profiles already in use..." or similar.

I now added a # as prefix, so you know it's a bot
one can change the prefix during play by the console command bot_prefix prefix
the prefix will remain unchanged until the next round

for the amount of money:
if you type in the console MP_ it shows a list of all console commands starting with these letters ...
MP_STARTMONEY has a default value of 800 ... try changing this ...

okay, these are console commands, meaning one has to type them each time the server is restarted ...
try and find out how a configfile can be used ....

thank you for that info..I have tried lowering the cash from $800 in the menu before and it continued to set it at 800..

I renamed them all in the botprofile.db and it didn't work !!

Doubtful...

We tried renaming the bots in CZ that exact same way a few months back.. same problem occured. I don't think it's possible..

Only editable thing is bot_prefix, also, you dont put things back into a gcf file lol.

You just chuck the file in this folder:
X:\program files\steam\steamapps\<Your username>\counter-strike source\cstrike

Well i open up the botprofile.db file with wordpad change the names save it under ..\steam\steamapps\<Your username>\counter-strike source\cstrike and it works fine.
