just curious if anybody else was going to be taking part in some boxing day shopping. I'm gonna go pick up some $450 surround sound speakers for $150 at a&b sound assuming i can get in. I g2 get there at 3am in hopes of getting it haha. Me and a few friends are gonna get some lawn chairs and camp it out. MMMmmmm savings :naughty:

Yup, can't get in today but most shops are doing a 3-day thingee, I'll stop by the warehouse tomorrow and spend it up big :P

Me neither, it's a complete mystery to me.

well guys, i'm back haha, mission was a success. I picked up the speakers, after waiting there from 3am to 7am for the store to open. Me and my gf were shivering there all night. Other people showed up with sofas and chairs and were in sleeping bags and had heaters and stuff haha. I've never done that before, and i'm now officially exhausted. Its 8:20am and i've gone the entire night without even napping.

So boxing day is a day of sales, the day after Christmas? Is it like Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving?

Its "Mellandagsrea" as we call it in Sweden (you're from Finland but i hope you understand)

Anyways, its what ray_MAN said.

Why would it be a 'holiday'? It's even on my calendar! It's only a day of sales on items, for God's sake!

Its just the day after xmas where all the stores have huge sales because everybody has spent all their money allready on xmas gifts and so they have insane sales to keep business going. It didnt start out as a day for sales, it was basicly they day after xmas where you would throw away all the boxes from gifts and generally clean up after christmas was over.

US doesn't have Boxing Day...I thought UK did that too.

Well we dont have a mellandags rea here as far as i know... the stores were all closed today.. some open tommorow some on sunday and the rest on monday...

i think its more because all the stores are trying to get rid of all their old stock from the old year and get all the new stuff for the new year. It's pretty much just a big blow-out in a desperate attempt to sell stock they dont want anymore.
