WTF is up with the obsession with bribery in places like China and South Korea. It's a cultural problem. I'm not saying it doesn't happen in many other countries, but in China it literally infests every level of government and law enforcement.

The Korean company Samsung appear to have the government in their pocket

Looking to the future with China replacing America as the world superpower, the bribery/corruption thing is something i hope doesn't spread around the world too much.

It's like that here too... although in a corporate-government level I don't think there is much of a difference anywhere in the world.

Because of a lack of transparency in business and government. If they felt they would get caught, they wouldn't do it. Probably a lack of whistleblowers too.

Corruption is still rampant here, it's just better concealed. But not enough it seems, look at all the corruption surrounding Blair.

In many countries in Africa the officials get payed less because the authorities know that they will get lots of bribes.

In my country, many people get extra money so that they won't have an incentive to accept bribes (it even includes football referees). Does that happen anywhere else?

Yes, I offer backhand money to people so that they won't accept bribes.

Hasn't china taken a lot of steps against bribery, I remember reading the government coming down incredibly hard on those who accept bribery, even giving death sentences. Or was that only to the guy who's actions led to a lot of deaths.

Both, but that was only because the world was watching. :/

money solves everything, thats why the people that have it use it

Yeah, they even advocated the killing of corrupt politicians to the public.

Bribery in Asian countries... more like government in Asian countries since quite a few of them are shitholes, especially when it comes to Central Asia.

Huh, I like Samsung better than I like my current goverment. That'll most likely change after the elections, though.

Besides, it's not like Samsung's evil or anything. Ok, they make artillery pieces and sell them to eastern europe and the middle east, and supply tear gas to Israel and ect, but still.

Come on, don't knock the teargas. It kicks ass without actually kicking ass and that's why it's great.
