Brightness endeavour, need console

Right, my stupid card (or drivers) tend to darken FPS games beyond comprehension. I have tried from the control panel and nooo, I have set the console key from the options (~) but doesn't seem to work.

Console key is the one next to number key 1 to the left, right?
Any ideas?

What I'm trying to do here is to get manually increase the brightness as the options' 1.6 isn't enough. I get kills but they're no fun to look T_T

Bring up steams 'play games' window. Select properties for counter strike source. Check the 'launch options'. Add '-console' here. Then start cs:s and you'll have the console. Then type in "bind \ toggleconsole" and it'll work. At least the \ was the intented button next to 1 for me.

mabye your monitor is dark!
on your monitor look for a button that has a half-white half-black
symbol AND/OR a sun symbol

Woot! It worked!! Thanks! Now...what is the command for increasing the gamma/brightness? ^^;;

Doesn't seem to work. -__- Monitor is set to brightest also.

Options --> Keyboard --> Advanced --> enable console

I get the console visible, it has been working well but I can't seem to either find the commands for brigtness/gamma or can't get them to work.

And yes, I have set it from the options to highest which is 1.6 and it is too dark x_X

*dances until dead* Damn yes! YEAH! Thank you for that! I downloaded the powerstrip but didn't install it as I remembered that my brautiful card has a build-in hotkey thingie just like that program and it works!

Mwahahaha!! In your face darkness! I have magic missile now!
