BT are going to raise my connection speed to 2MBPS soon. This would be really cool, but they're also imposing a 15GB limit, which sucks. So I'm switching service providers.

Anyone in the UK have any suggestions? I need something without a download cap, preferable faster than 512K and less than 25 quid a month.

Cheers,

15 Gb would probably be ok - that's about 500 megs a day, it's enough for most people, including gamers. Maybe not if you're a porn addict :p

If that's not enough for you...you can get 30GB easily.

But I think everyone is using caps these days, it's the only good way of stopping those peer2peer ones who set up huge downloading/upload operations.
But for your average user it's way more than enough.

15Gigs a month, it's like downloading one high quality hollywood movie everyday.

500megs of bandwidth a day is quite a bit - but if you can't deal with that then NTL has a 2MB/ps connection with a 30GB download cap for 25 quid a month. It's 750k for 25 quid right now, but from March 14th onwards it'll be 2MB.

I think your best bet is to move to Sweden.

I'd be thinking about changing my service provider, if I wasn't moving out at the end of the summer.

Where you going Farrow? Uni?
Im with Pipex at Uni (as far as i know, there are no limits to their service and they do 2meg now). And Telewest here, which again, afaik, there is no limit... .then again, thats pretty useless info, the companies have probably changed plans. but check them out, if you havent already.

Download and upload caps would suck ass.

Yeah I'm going to uni. Hopefully Lancaster...but I'm getting nervous about that now :x

I checked them out, they're out of my range :(

NTL sounds top-banana Jimmeh, shall investigate.

Telewest Blueyonder is the best. But since there out of range, I dont know.

Grrr, I can only get 512k from ntl: and I don't fancy the hassle of switching to bulldog, tho' it is cheap. Oh well, guess I'll just stick to 2meg and hope I don't go over the limit..

EDIT: Shit, ukonline do 2M in my area - no download caps - for 30pound! Maybe I can stretch the budget a little :D Gorgon, if I do sign up, I'll PM you for your e-mail and get you a month free for recommending me :)

Yeah, I am right in thinking its the one with Broadband, Cable TV and phone line for 25 (or is it 35) quid a month, free phone calls after six (as long as its not to a mobile)
