Browser Wars! Part two!: Speed tests.

Looks like I chose the correct browser for windows when it comes to speed.

I wuv my Opera. :D

So overall, Opera seems to be the fastest browser for windows. Firefox is not faster than Internet Explorer, except for scripting, but for standards support, security and features, it is a better choice. However, it is still not as fast as Opera, and Opera also offers a high level of standards support, security and features.

Not that it really matters though, most sites are dog slow anyway these days :(

*Calmly browses his single window with 20 tabs and blocks every piece of Flash he sees*

HAHA!

It was common knowledge that not faster than IE, especially slower with starting up (but 20 seconds? Geez) because IE is so integrated into Windows, but I take that for granted. :)

yea things are slightly diffrent when your system is a bit over 3x the speed of those test computers, but my 10k rpm sata drive certinally makes for sub 20 second startups.

We already discussed the features crap in many diffrent threads.

Yeahb ut ff's speed can greatly be inproved thnx to tips from goos sites and then its very, very fast.

That PC hardware is years old, you could spend £300 and have a PC twice that speed..FF for me opens in less than a second and loads pages with loads of pictures pretty fast.

FF start in less then a sec here to.. and i've never experienced any problems with it.

Wow, got us that time :|

yea go to google and type in firefox tweaks, and youll find all these speed tips, the most common involved setting the pipline to true, so it can have 30 connections at a single time, which really really makes it faster, but im also on a T1 line.

Your avatar made me laugh inside, xcellerate.

that test was probably before that tweak thing for FF that was posted a long time ago.

besides, they weren't opening like 30 tabs at the same time.

I was always saying that when comes to speed:

Opera > IE > Firefox

thats a terriable saying, and i now use opera and i dont see what thr big deal is....

AFter doing those Firefox tweaks that were posted here a while back, everything loads so fast...

Opera 6 IS fast. I used to use Opera 6, I loved it. But IMO Opera has been utter shit since version 7. Bloated program, cluttered interface, and slow. FF is what I use now. :P

I would say the speed you're getting is more dependant on your ISP than your browser.. but you know.. maybe that's the pepsi talking..

opera is good and "feels faster" but alot of sites dont work on it. gmail and google maps for 2 examples. I am testing it out right now, cuase i might write an article for my school site about it. I still feel the last line will be "I am glad I am done writing this article so I can get back to using firefox."

Welcome to my "Insane" list :)

Not only it takes a few secs more to load both on my old celeron 566MHz and my new 3GHz p4, but the interface feels SO DAMN SLOW.
Oh yeah, I have to mention also the stupid IE-like interface :D
