I was wondering if anyone knew something about these things..
Im pretty curious myself cuz ive gathered some money now and i dont want to do the same misstake as i did last time and buy stuff without knowing how far away the future is =)

note to mods: since so many people keep asking this same set of questions.....make a sticky on the subject

And Intel's P4 w/SSE3 Technology (Prescott) is >100watts...
btw Athlon 64/Opteron with the onboard memory controller is ~80watts.
I guess we know where each company is heading.

BTX is a very good idea. PCI Express looks... cute. I mean the 1X slots. Very compact.

EDIT: Y'know, once we develop room-temperature superconductors, all this heat dissipation and cooling jazz is gonna be a moot point. With SCs, all we'll have to worry about is levitating computers.

Here is a preview of Intel's Pentium 4 with SSE3 technology (Prescott) which will be released next year.
Not as big of a jump as Athlon XP to Athlon 64 in 32bit (wait for 64bit ;)).
Guess Intel's statment at IDF was true, "An equally clocked Prescott will not be as fast as Pentium 4 EE".

Asus that post of urs is very informative.. hopefully one of the mods can sticky this thread.. or make another thread with those links in it and have it closed so no replies to it..

mods can always open it to update the thread right? hmm..

anyway thanks alot :)
