A tearful 12-year-old told three monks how another monk had turned off the lights during a tutoring session, lifted her shirt and kissed and fondled her breasts while pressing against her, according to a lawsuit.

Shortly after that meeting, one of the monks sent a letter to the girl's family, saying the temple's monastic community had resolved the matter, the lawsuit says.

The "wrong doer had accepted what he had done," wrote P. Boonshoo Sriburin, and within days would "leave the temple permanently" by flying back to Thailand."

had he been a catholic priest he'd be moved to another community to start with a fresh set of kids to molest

"One serial offender, Boa-Ubol, has been definitively caught with a DNA test — he fathered a child on a 14-year-old girl. His temple chastised him, and claimed that he had left the US to go to Thailand. Where is he now? California. In a temple. Working with children. Reporters can call this rapist and pedophile up and have a conversation with him."

Goddamn vows of celibacy. It just isn't healthy.

(I'm not saying that celibacy = pedophiles, but does nobody else begin to see a pattern emerging here?)
 
Man, Paedophiles are like Skrulls. They're everywhere.
 
Lots of other non-celibate religious ministers have been found guilty of child abuse, just as with teachers I'm not sure the rate of offence is any different. In general, adults in authority working with kids = more potential for paedophile rape.
It's the Catholic Church's ways of [not] dealing with said abuse that is so beyond the pale.

Yeah, this doesn't surprise me. The problem isn't catholicism, it's not even religion in general, it's compulsory celibacy.

Which is, itself, a symptom of certain religions... so there you go. :v
