BuildCubeMaps - newb water question

hiya..ive built a small pool with an env_cube just above it and selected the top face of the pool for the 'Brush Faces" property

in the hl2 console, after loading the map, ive typed 'buildcubefaces'

it processes a few pics then runs the following error:

] buildcubemaps
bounce: 1/1 sample: 1/1
Creating default cubemaps for env_cubemap using skybox sky_wasteland02...
Material "debug/debuglightmap":
No render states in shader "LightmappedGeneric_DX8"

No render states in shader "LightmappedGeneric_DX8"
"materials/maps/sdk_faceposer/cubemapdefault.vtf": can't be found on disk
"materials/maps/sdk_faceposer/cubemapdefault.vtf": can't be found on disk

can anyone point me in the right direction? thanks!

problem solved, i was using light_environment incorrectly
