My friend wants to build a computer for gaming, multimedia, etc. His budget is under $1600. We research parts last night and we came up with this. Mainly, he wants a system that will last for the next 3-4 years. He wants to play Crysis and Far Cry 2, as well as World in Conflict. We are not sure if getting the new intel i7 would be a good idea, cuz the motherboard is about $300 and the memory is alot for more than 6gb. What do you guys think?

Here are the parts.

That is a really good, solid rig. The only thing I might consider is changing out those 260's for a GTX 295. A single 295 is about $40 cheaper and offers roughly the same performance as SLI 260's. In game's such as Far Cry 2 the difference in FPS between the two is only a few. In Crysis Warhead the 260's beat the 295 buy about 1.4 fps. Something to consider.

Actually, the GTX 260 cost $185 each after rebate so that is $370 compared to the $500 GTX 295.

We were not really sure if the motherboard is a good model.

Ahh. Nevermind then, I only glanced at the search results in Newegg and didn't bother looking for the lowest price.

No case listed there. Does he already have one? Is it spacious enough?

only thing i might reconsider is the 1000W power supply.

Also It's crossfire ready which means nothing since you have two geforce cards. How much is it?

It doesn't mean much anyway. A 750W or more power supply will be more than enough to handle that rig. You can save a bunch there.

that case looks....loud

but nice
