Bullet decals!

Jeez, the only thing that I noticed that was new in this update were the new decals. Frankly, they suck. The decals that they had, ESPECIALLY the ones for metal back in the older build were extremley cool, one of the best things I liked about cs:s..and what do they do now? they make the bullet decals nothing but black dots!

why did they do this? I know it's supposed to be more "realistic" or whatever, but they previous ones looked damn cool, and showed off what kind of stuff could be done in the engine, the new ones are just old, used-too-much black dots!
 
Actually they added better hitbox system + i noticed the arms look diffrent shows blood vessels its awesome!!!
 
Yeah I thought that was cool. My CT looks like he is actually a soldier now!

yes, but the bullet decals suck!

I want the old ones back ;(

/me copies bullet decal files from the hl2 preload into cs:s
 
what, you mean blood decals on the body or on the walls?

Looked good on barrels to me.
 
New metal bulletholes are great, but they should go back to the old decals for wood and stone surfaces.

The new bulletholes might look realistic (dunno, I've never shot up a wall in real life), but since CS:S does NOT strive for realism in many instances, why not go for cooler-looking decals over the realistic ones?

No, the new bullet decals do not suck. End of story.
 
The new bullet decals are more realistic, albeit less "cooler". Who gives a freck, the wood decal is much better, the wall one is better.

Anyway - thank god they removed those hideous hand textures - the new ones are better and more manly (with veins).
 
Something to consider is that with these decal updates, are this for CSS strictly, or does that mean they are also updating the HL2 decals, in which case how complete is HL2 right now?
 
I heard somewhere...*gulp*...that HL2 has 550+ decals. :eek:

I'm sure the HL2 decals will not be updated - for one thing they are already on our computer along with the textures in the preload (so if they are updated - means another preload will take place soon to overwrite the older ones.)

While the cs:s decals do have depth and look good - I really hoped they would be normal-mapped. Unfortunately no game atm has normal mapped decals AFAIK.
