Burnley boss Owen Coyle looks set to be appointed the new Bolton manager after the Clarets revealed he had "reaffirmed his desire to leave" Turf Moor.
But Burnley and Bolton are yet to agree compensation for the Scot.
It is believed that Burnley want about £3m for Coyle, who signed a 12-month extension to his three-year contract in the summer.
Bolton are looking for a new manager after sacking Gary Megson last week after two-and-a-half years in charge.
Megson, 50, was axed with the club 18th in the Premier League.
Having played for Bolton between 1993 and 1995, Coyle would be a popular appointment with fans, who regularly hit out at Megson for what they perceived to be his negative tactics.

I don't know if anyone else here supports Burnley (my home town) but this is truly very sad.

He brought us so far and now I really wonder if we have a chance of staying in the premiership.

It's the UKers. Them and their 'football'

And their silly, strange names of people and places. Turf Moor? If I wanted to read lord of the rings I'd watch the movies!

I must say, I had the exact same reaction.

It's a brilliant ground. It's turf (grass) on what used to be moors.

They're playing football on Mars now?

How about that.

Moors? What is this, the Middle Ages? And why are you playing on the graves of the Moorish? How is that even possible? United Kingdom isn't the Iberian Peninsula.

Confirmed relegation in January, it hurts. Only kidding, you might stay up...there are a lot of shocking teams at the bottom of the league this year. Portsmouth are finished, West Ham are awful, Hull, Wigan & Wolves don't know how to defend or score goals. You could stay up.

It's...pretty average actually. It holds about 20,000...KC Stadium and Molineux are both smaller clubs, near the size as Burnley and hold 8-9000 more. Lots of people think it's a bit naff :P

Do enjoy playing Burnley, the Spurs enjoy a bit of shooting practice :D

This is England. We use the word moors.

Hey look at me, I'm playing the words smallest lute.
