Bush Begins 5-Day Push to Defend Iraq War

source

In his weekly radio address, Bush argued that the war in Iraq will keep Americans safe for generations to come.

will it? your thoughts

I was already safe.... Last I checked I was never attacked by terrorist. Bush can kiss my ass.

well since the Bush harboured the Laden family in his country and then politely flew them out around 9/11 i wouldnt count on it, If you have buisness tie's with terrorist's there is no way that the statement is true. I think hes gone and made the world a more fearful and dangerous place, and confused alot of people in the process.

wait a second , Its genius! , what a great way to drive the military economy into overdrive to attempt to strengthen the weak dollar, and get a more direct foot in on some economic control and profit on middle eastern oil while giving the American people something idealistic to fight for. Im sure Bush feels its ashame that all of us arnt as stupid as past generations of patriots.

hmm havent thought about it that way...

Hi. What does finish the job mean?

There is so much division in Iraq the only thing that kept it together was a brutal Dictator.

With Saddam gone the country will most likely split into several smaller countries as the factions with different beliefs secede. And if the Iraqi parliament can actually agree on the most basic of issues i will be astounded. Staying isn't going to help. The country will go down the shitter regardless of outside influence, they hate eachother as much as they hate Americans. Hey but at least they now have the freedom to screw themselves over.

I believe Bush has done more to endanger the United States than he has to protect it. How the **** he thinks his crusade in Iraq is making us is any safer is something I'm curious to hear. I need a good laugh.

As he has before when he has been challenged, Bush invoked the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in his radio address.

"On that day, we learned that vast oceans and friendly neighbors no longer protect us from those who wish to harm our people," he said. "And since that day, we have taken the fight to the enemy."

Wow, what a douche bag.

I'd love to hear his reasoning. He's said this before, but his numbers suggest no one is buying it. What are his sources?? Who's telling him this??

What happens when we leave though?? I just get the feeling that it's going to go right back to hell. Insurgents suddenly appear again, corrupt leadership, etc, will all reveal themselves again IMO. Then what?? We'll have wasted years and hundreds of billions of dollars. Mind boggling. I tend to feel that we'll be no safer. If anything, we've enraged a whole new generation of terrorists....I cannot see this being beneficial to the US.

Honor the sacrifice the make? Hey news flash Mr. Bush, you asshole. Everyone honors the troops, it is you that refuses to meet with mothers that lost their sons in Iraq because they happen to think their son died pointlessly, you no good immoral chicken shit.

Sorry, had to blow some of that steam off. Its a classic republican tactict. Take the evil you do and try to spin it to make it look like the other side is doing it.

i think that he wont meet with the mothers because there is just too many houses to go to, to many deaths over there. my friends dad was in iraq and when he got killed the only thing that they got was a letter stating that "bush was sorry for their loss". ****in prick

She is a disgrace because she would like to talk to Bush about her opinion of the war? I mean what a bitch, her son died because of Bush; how dare she try to ask him some questions. yes, she did meet with him. Did you read her account of what the meeting was like?

If you weren't such an asshole I might have a good discussion with you about this but its pointless.

Sorry about your friend's dad. But that is not really the point. Bush will not meet with anyone that disagrees with her position. In the case of whats going on in Crawford now a lot of mothers that lost their son in Iraq want to talk face to face with Bush about what they think of the war. They lost their sons in Bush's war, the least he can do is get their opinion on the matter. but he is too chicken-shit to do that.

You have a source? If I remember correctly he joined before the Iraq war but I can't find anything on the date he joined since I got a new computer and lost that bookmark. Second, do I have to go over all the lies Bush told about why we should go in to Iraq and how honorable it would be and how Saddam was the biggest threat to our freedom?

I don't care much about the President anymore, but I do care about one element of his opinion. Leaving now is not something we should begin until were certain we have the roots of Iraq's future political and military problems down to a 80% solution rate.

Agreed entirely.

Lemonking, did you find any evidance of Casey Sheehan joining after the war? I'm curious, you seem quiet after you flamed me earlier; just want to check up on that.

From an article by his mother:
Casey joined the Army in May, 2000. His recruiter told him that he would be able to finish college, be a Chaplain's Assistant, receive a $20,000 signing bonus, and most insidiously and heartbreakingly, that he would never see combat. Casey scored so high on the ASVAB (military competency test) that he would only be in a support role and he would never be in a battle. Well, every promise that Casey's recruiter made to him, he broke.

Well thats another kid suckered into the army in order to pay for an education.
This seems to be the case for so many american soldiers, it makes you wonder; if college and university were cheaper in america, would there be any volunteers in the armed services?

Of course. What an infallible source.

Whats there is the date that Casey Sheehan joined the army(2000).

I really dont think that KCLA or whatever its called lied
Who was the host? Rush? Oreilly? Or maybe it was one of your local right wing liars. The fact is he joined in 2000, long before the Iraq war and 9/11. Whats sad is you did what the right wing does, assume without fact checking and then attack a mother who lost a son simply because she doesn't agree with you. You have no right to say her son would have been ashamed as you never knew her son. You also have no right to judge her as I'm guessing you never lost a child because of Bush, if I did I know I would go crazy and god only knows what I would do. The right wing is set on destroying this mother after they already destroyed her son's life, they will not accept a different view point from anyone, even a mother of a great guy that they had a hand in killing.
