Bush's Unforgivable Initerview

I saw that segment when it aired on Wednesday. One of Olbermann's best moments in my opinion.

He's a good speaker, obviously gives a shit for what he's talking about which is refreshing. His polite manner but angry tone makes for entertaining viewing.

Were this six-months ago, I would be praising Mr. Olbermann in agreement with what he said.

Indeed his criticisms of Bush are well founded. Bush is not a great man with regards to the golf game Bush has committed far greater insults to the armed forces in Iraq by cutting health care and benefits for those injured troops who are forced to return home after serving their country.

Such people deserve the highest quality of treatment that the worlds richest country can afford and a guaranteed full military income for life. That they do not get this, but rather see cut after cut whilst the rich get larger and larger tax breaks is the biggest insult but I digress.

Unlike Mr.Olbermann I think our presence in Iraq is necessary and well warranted. He says Bush does not know what freedom means, using the patriot act as an example. Does he not recognise that an America with a hundred more similar patriot acts, would still be a far more free and democratic society than what Iraq was before we invaded it, or will degenerate into if we leave?

I've been reading in Nick Cohens 'What's Left?' about how baathist Iraq was a police state that made the soviet union pale in comparison. In the newly liberated Baghdad files were found containing reports from hairdresser detailing what their clients had spoken about.

Can you imagine living in a country, where even your hairdresser is required to report you to the secret police for anything you say that might be against the party? Can you imagine being required to report on people - your friends, family and neighbors terrified of what might happen if you do not report enough people. How corrosive such a state of affairs must be to the human spirit?

We, to our credit brought the demise of a genocidal totalitarian regime, however the remnants of totalitarianism live on in Iraq. They are the fascists fueled by Islamism who will kill anyone who stands between them and power. So desperate are they to unleash their genocidal and tyrannical ambitions that they will stop at nothing. These people have to be killed. If they are not stopped, they will spread throughout the middle east furthering their rein of terror. Who will say this is not their ambition?

Are these people not worth fighting?
 
I can't believe Bush said that "Iraq is where Al Qaeda have made their last stand and will be defeated." What a joke..

I also loved his statement that he didn't give up his insurance scams to help those families involved in the Iraq War, because I saw a documentary recently on America's Insurance Scams and it sort of shocked me.

And to Solaris..Why Iraq? Yes, we need a military presence in the Middle East because of your reasons, such as your last statement. But that Iraq war was never really meant for the people in the first place. Iraq was never the place where the major terrorists resided. True, America did free a Nation from a tyrannical leader, but only made it worst, and caused the conglomeration of extremists take it out on each other there, with the Sunni's now not having support from anywhere but other extremists. Iraq is not better off but worse, so bringing the "demise of a genocidal regime" wasn't really an advantage to Iraqis.

The USA is the biggest debtor in the world. They have no money, they borrow it from China & Japan.
 
Do people living in the States really need pity?

Surely, there are many many countries worse off.
 
I was expecting an interview in the style of the "unforgivable" videos. You know, "I want a chicken sandwich and some waffle fries . . . FOR FREE."

This was better, though. Olbermann isn't afraid to speak out and that's pretty admirable.
 
You mean retearing an old one. We know he's a moron who can't make decisions. It's the dumbass 50 something % of the country that's just as retarded. The process is retarded, electoral votes? gtfo.
 
You know, I'm not even an American, and I was rather moved by Olbermann's passionate speech. He is correct that it is a horrible tragedy and travesty what Bush has done, or let happen, in the US and the world.
As for Bush, his complete lack of comprehension and incompetence rarely surprises me anymore. Though it is an incredibly shallow and insulting thing to say that sacrificing golf is the best way you can share a widow's pain.
I'm also not sure why he'd willingly put himself on the line like that, taking online questions... you have to figure that the people are gonna be gunning for him.

I'm saving that one for posterity.
