I agree. Sure it's not easy to hear, but it's also not easy to say.

I'm not trying to make light of your situation. I know it hurts. But you have to keep in mind that the person had to say something. Male or female, rejecting someone may be easier than being rejected, but it is still difficult. Most people don't wish to hurt the other person so it is a tricky situation.

Also, don't forget that in some cases that line is entirely sincere.

When you came from a friendship, this can be true. But often (if not usually) the expression of unrequited feelings offsets the balance and the friendship falls apart.
