I'm looking into purchasing a new monitor because UPS destroyed mine when I shipped it from home for school this semester.

Anyway, while I'm waiting for the insurance thing to happen, I'm looking at monitors. Here's one I found:

BENQ 20 in.

I don't know anything about it and can't find reviews. I know BENQ is a good brand. Would you guys go for it over something like this?:

Thanks helplife2.net :)

BenQ makes excellent monitors. I'm an extremely happy with my V2400W, and I think you'll like the G2000W. Acer tends to be pushed by Newegg, which is why the reviews are more numerous compared to similar monitors. From my experience with Acers, they tend to have poor grays, which sometimes look almost blue. BenQ's also have very solid construction, and don't feel flimsy like some other brands.

As far as your destroyed one goes. What did you ship it in? I take everything myself to my college, and I put the monitor in its original box which had styrafoam support concentrated to the sides of the monitor so that nothing is touching the screen. Just be careful with packaging next time (don't throw it out!)

I learned my lesson this time. I tossed the packaging before (yeeeears ago, before I even knew I'd be going away for school) and I had to custom pack it. 3rd time doing it and it'd survived so far so I thought I'd be good.

Going with the benq, thanks y'all.

I too did that with my first LCD, I put it in a box with 2 pillows on the front and back for when I wanted to move it. It's only partially working now from unrelated reasons.

Never had a benQ so I can't comment. I have had good luck with acer. I would recommend you move up from the 20.1" to a 22". It's only about $30 more. In fact new egg has a killer deal with free shipping:

You will have to cut back a bit with the contrast ratio here but I think the larger size is well worth it.
