I came back from Mexico this holidays and braught with me cigarettes that I sold really quick in France. People evry day ask me if I still have more ( I sold them 3.50 Euros the pack).

Im thinking about buying more from the net, but Im still not sure if its a good idea ( border control, kind of ilegal, etc etc).

Has any of you done it before ?

If it's illegal, I don't care what you think about it... how much you think it sucks. Don't do it, or else I won't care if you get time for it.

It sounds to me like over there for some strange reason, selling cigarettes from other countries is like being a drug dealer or something. Which is ridiculous, but still, it's a crime so don't do it unless you really want to risk jail. Don't throw your life away.

Why would importing cigarettes be illegal? And wouldn't shipping rape you of the cost, anyway?

If you order them off the net from a country outside of the EU you may have to pay import tax (if they're in the EU there are no import taxes due to free trade agreements). However, you only have to pay tax if customs check the package, they don't check all the packages coming into the country (well they don't in the UK, anyway). If they do check it you'll have to pay all the taxes you would normally on cigarettes in France, which would in all probility make it as expensive as buying them normally.

Its not illegal, well its not in the UK anyway. If customs check it and tax you its definetly not illegal as you've paid the tax on it, but if they don't it gets a bit iffier, but you shouldn't be at fault.

With imports its all the luck of the draw on whether customs check it. So, it may be worth your while, but it might not.
