Ok i'm going to by a multi effect for my guitar because i'm getting a bit frustrated at the poor sound from software multieffects.

I'm thinking of buying the ZOOM G2 guitar effect. It got great reviews and praises all over the net. I've listened to some youtube videos and it sounds really great for a device costing 100 EU.

Do you guys by any chance have it? how's it like?

The thing is i don't have a guitar amp but i use the PC speakers. They are relatively good because at the time they were expensive and have an external amplifier. What do you think, will it sound fairly good? Or do i need an amp?

How does it work plugged in the PC?

Thanks for the help.

Get a guitar amp. I would only play into the computer if I wanted to do some recordings. Effects pedals are a neat extra, and give you some great sound varieties, but I would only get one if you play music that uses a wide range of sound and tone types, if you are just after the crisp and clear distortion, stick with a decent amp with Overdrive and FX capabilties.

i guess so. i'm gonna go for the G1 which is cheaper but still good for a beginner/intermediate and save some money to get an amp.

what wattage is enough for a standard bedroom?

probably 15 - 30 watts if u dun plan on jamming with a drummer and only using it as a practise amp. u could get urself a spider 3 line 6 cuz it has nice effects.

If you just want a practice amp for your room, you could get something like this. Relatively cheap, and sounds really nice for what it is.

I currently have this amp and am fairly happy with it.
There is a fair amount of feedback (But if you get a noisegate and you have humbuckers it should be fine), but it pushes out a solid tone, and DO NOT think this thing doesn't get loud.
Oh boy, it's very loud.

Lots of people don't like the distortion tone, but I love it, I've gotten use to it. The clean tone is fairly amazing

I would get an amplifier that already has at least distortion and maybe reverb. Then just buy a few stompboxes like chorus, dunlop crybaby (wah), delay and just practice with those.

I have love the clean tone switch on my amp :D
