Buying new pc for hl2 need help

It should work, my only concern would be if some of the physically larger PCI-e video cards would fit in the case. Those cases are TIGHT for space. A 6600 GT would be a good choice for PCI-e if you have to keep the price under control, or an x800 XT if you have the cash.

If your main focus is gaming, you should see if you can get something similar with an Athlon 64 processor instead of the Intel P4.

i don't know anything about that intel chipset, you might want to do some research about it online.... otherwise, the whole thing seems pretty good, i especially like the PCI express slot which will give you a good choice for a very fast video card, much appreciated for HL2.

Id honestly go with a Custom-Build, you would end up with a MUCH better product for about half the cost of the Falcon system.

when it says no memory cpu or hdd what do they mean buy that

It means you have to buy them separately and install them in the case yourself.

I would see if I can find a Socket 939 version for the Athlon 64 instead of Socket 754 like that one. It will cost a little more, but 939 will have a better upgrade path... 754 ends at 3700+, but the 939 goes up to 4000+ and FX-55, and AMD is going to make at least the 4200+ and FX-57 for it too. 939 also supports dual channel memory, which is nice.

Finally, the new Winchester core A64 processors (3000+ and 3500+) are only socket 939, and they use alot less power and run alot cooler than the older A64's, which in turn use less power and run cooler than the P4 Prescotts. This is important in a little system with not much ventilation and a small power supply... you'll have more power to spare for a monster video card. :E
