Well I doubt theres a medical condition that requires a see-through stocking over his head...

This, in addition to the fact that there's a HUGE risk of someone getting injured (shopkeeper pulling out a firearm like someone mentioned in this thread) leads me to believe there's a good chance this was just faked for the sake of safety.
