Yes, that's true. This will be the 9th hurricane this year.

And ya I think this is the third one to hit florida in just a few weeks.

They are named alphabetically. They alternate between male and female names (that started in 1979, until then there were only female names). Six lists of names are used in rotation (there are another six lists for the Pacific hurricanes). Thus, the 2004 list will be used again in 2010. The only time that there is a change in the lists is if a storm is so deadly or costly that the future use of its name on a different storm would be inappropriate for reasons of sensitivity.
