So the Byron Review has finally been published, and overall it seems pretty good. Anyone else read it?

Some thoughts from me:

The PEGI system should be recommended as the sole body to rate video games in the UK. The PEGI system is pan-European and it makes sense that as a member of the EU the UK should look to bolster ties with Europe. The adoption of the PEGI system as the sole body to rate games would be in the best interests of all involved.

Read the rest of my thoughts (with further links to the Byron Review) right here.

I still don't see how this helps, 15 and 18 rated games are already done by the BBFC, so making them do all the other games are pointless, are 12 rated games really that harmfull. It's just an added work load making them see if Mario can cause violence, the games that need checking are already done.

And i don't see what's wrong with the current system it shows the age rating and what it contains, if you are to thick or lazy to read it then it's not the ratings fault, and changing them are not going to help. The 18 certificate on a game box is twice the size then it is on a DVD film.
Games are already rated more harsh than films or even pre-watershed soaps can get away with more. Although i must say i glad she didn't take the typical approach to violent video games and say banning them would fix the problem.

This seems like the usual crap the government tries to pull that won't make a difference except for that parental control on PC crap which:
A) could be uninstalled
B) won't matter as I'm building a new computer :D
