I'm here. How to get out please. Thanks a lot... I'm sure I'm stupid, but I've been here for a long time now.

i havent a clue where you are. shouldnt there be water there?

There's supposed to be water there. Open Steam and go into your options for HL2 and find the option for validating your files.

Aaah, yeah, there.

Because I'm intricately familiar with the walls in Half-Life 2.

I could go on for approximately 2 hours and 34 minutes about the reason why that gate is bent in that exact manner.

The direction from there is in a North-Easterly orientation, then taking you down a passage which will inevitably lead you in the right direction.

Moron.

No water, but there is a red rail car behind me, if that helps. I stacked boxes to get on top, jumped down through an open hatch and found myself here. I can't go back, can't figure out how to move on.

A C3 Root Canal!

Boy that's gotta be painfull!

Well. That was supremely unhelpful. I hope it was fun for you.

I'm just sayin...

No, fair post Waer. He was warned for being a moron himself in that post.

If you could post another screenshot of the surrounding location we'll be able to help. You must appreciate your screenshot lacks detail or the specifics of your location.

OK, you are right. I should have given more info to start with. Here is more detail. Thanks for the help everyone.

Well. That was supremely unhelpful.

Funny you should said that. You realise how many textures there are in Half-Life 2? Not that many. You realise how many maps there are in Half-Life 2? Quite a few. And so, as you might expect, every fucking wall looks the same. If you post a picture of a somewhere which isn't even supposed to look like it does and ask us to "help", how the hell do you expect us to give you any advice?

You might as well tell us you've got a maths problem, take a photo of your bloody equals sign and ask us to solve it.

There are people who are able to ask for help, and there are people able to whine and leech off other people. There are different methods of leeching, and if you expect us to help us, try being helpful yourself. Otherwise you just sound ignorant.

And calling this a "walk thru thread", while not even spelt correctly, is far from the truth.

And talking of Walkthroughs, did you not even consider looking for one?

Did you also not decide to check which forum you're posting in, because funnily enough, there's one especially for this.

Your game is seriously messed up. There should be a ladder at the side of that container and an alien inside. If your game is legit you should validate your Steam files now. If it's not, buy the game.

Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed...

ok i know where you are now but there are many many many things missing. you are at the part where you meet up with the vort and the refugee. either you pirated the game or you should try validating your files through steam. other then that there isnt anything else we can help you with. you aren't lost in the game, its just parts of your game are missing.

The game is legit. I bought the Orange Box dvd compilation, and downloaded the updates from Steam. I'll check, but I don't think the game is messed up...

Thanks for helping though.

And you jumped in on the wrong side of this forum.

And technically you should be able to continue. There shouldn't be anything blocking your path.

Otherwise, options:
a) Reinstall HL2.
b) Delete random files
c) Redownload it
d) Talk to Valve
e) Stop pirating, pirate.

valve would never put something that dull or random in the game. your game is messed up; we all here have played it many times. heck i even know when a load point for the game is coming. thats how much ive played.

OK. I verfied the integrity of my cache files, using Steam. There appears to be no problem with the game. Just the gamer.

/er, that would be me.

Thanks. I figured as much. That's why I came here first for help.

Sorry about the double post. I missed that the original had started a new page.

Still, what are your issues dude?

/somewhat perplexed but maybe original thesis is correct.

My guess is he's sad about stuff and such.

Waer, try to load another saved game, maybe it will load the level properly then.

OK guys and gals. Mystery solved. This is a dead end, off the game path, apparently little used, or known. It was pretty hard to get here (scrounge and stack six boxes, wierd jumps) so that should have clued me in.

I went back to an earlier save (first turret gun battle) and found the correct path.

Thanks to everyone who posted.

Sorry for reviving, but I just wanna say it since I know what's going on.

You were actually on the map AFTER this part. You somehow spawned behind the cargo.

You see, valve always takes a tiny part of the map before the current one during outdoor sequences for obvious visual reasons.

But hey, you got Druckles banned for being an ass, NJ :p

I am still in the route kanal chapter but in level I think 7. I don't know what the heck to do? any ideas, I've posted a print screen

Hello there, this is a common place people get stuck.

If you move around to the other room, there are lots of pipes in the corner. You need to climb up these pipes and you will find a red valve. Turn this and the room will flood with water.

From our walk-thru
If any manhacks manage to get to you, they're easily taken care of as they move very slowly in the water. Once they're gone, go back up the ladder nod onto the pipe at the top of the room. Go left, crouch and land on the walkway. Go through into the next room, and around to the right of the pipes. Drop down pipe by pipe to the valve at the bottom. Use it, then go back up the ladder and back into the other room.

More manhacks will appear; again, us the water to your advantage. After they're gone, swim down to the bottom of the room and through the large pipe. Go up to the door and up the ladder, and then look down to the bottom. You should see a row of wooden planks at the bottom. Shoot each one once to release the debris from underneath them (you may have to shoot one of the boxes to release some of it). Use the debris to jump over the water onto the other side. Go through the next corridor.

is this the same guy that was stuck before? if so this isnt as bad as last time. you should be able to get on that pipe directly over your head and walk on that until you can get to that corridor with the red light to your right. to get on that pipe there should be some sloping walls to your left and a ledge directly behind you. use the sloping walls to get up on the ledge then jump onto the railing on that ledge the crouch-jump from the railing onto that pipe
