I played a lot of the original Sim City back in the day. I never got around to the Caesar series tho. The demo for part IV is out. Just downloaded it and installing atm. Anyone play it yet?

I just made a new thread about it too

Its a brilliantly addictive sim bulinding game. U gotta control the politics, trade, what the gods think of u and so on. Many different things to do in the game.

Best this about Caeser 3 was its gameplay and easy access menus. Hope this is the same

I'm kinda scared. I hope it isn't too similar to Children of the Nile, the other game they made. I didn't like it that much.

Yeah, I'll try the demo, but we will see how it goes. Company of Heroes might have my money right now....

I played all the Ceasar games, great games if you like 'complex' games, it's not just SimCity in Rome :p Looking forward to trying the demo! Downloading.

Warning: the demo just installed a version of DX9 that made my rig go haywire. Gonna reinstall my drivers and stuff. Damn this.

Something's up. I already have DirectX 9.0c, so I didn't install it. Everything runs perfectly up until I try to play the demo mission. It then informs me that there has been an error, and I can do nothing save close the game.

Blah , the game crashes right after i run it. The same problem that i got with Malestorm. What's the deal? I didn't install the directx from the demo.

Runs fine for me. I didn't install directx. Make sure you don't have any noobish high-end stuff selected in the video menu.

It performs quite sluggish when you look towards the horizon, but if you demolish all the trees it goes smoother.

It's similar to the other games, but the houses don't seem to evolve which sucks. It means it's hard to see if they're getting water etc. It doesn't say how close things have to be to houses either. I can't tell if things like prefectures are smarter than before, meaning they can handle crossroads without getting confused.

I'll play it more tomorrow to see if it's actually better than Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom.

NEVER install DirectX from a game, it always screws ur machiene.

Been playing the demo for an hour, take a while to get used to the camera (its got this weird panning motion)

Big let down is that u cant save in the demo, but u do get a good feel to it. Not sure if IM gonna buy it though, wanna see how the military works and other things like the Gods

Graphics are good and the whether effects really hit home like the thunder, althought he rain is over the top and u cant see anything!!

The houses don't evolve? :( Seeing a long line of luxurious apartments was a simple but great visual payoff for all your hard work.

Agreed. It sucks. You build a house and it stays that way. Although there are 3 types of houses, but it still doesn't compare. The info you get when clicking on buildings isn't as good either.

I remember playing Caesar in like the sixth grade. This series has been here a loooong time.

I did get some houses to evolve to stage 3, maybe coz its just the demo. Its basically a 3D version of Caeser 3, I cant see any major gameplay changes which is a shame

Well, did they keep the stuff from Emperor? I thought this series has always gotten consistently better and improved the game mechanics with each new release. E:RotMK is a MASSIVE leap ahead of C3 in regards to all the things like trade, building walkers, and employment.
