Thanks. Download the vid review now.

Btw, anyone got to play it yet? I want to hear your opinions! :)

I m still waiting for the DVD to come out...

All reviews are positive. Gamespot gave it 8.8.... I don't get it, why gamepost gave the graphics poor score, I played the demo, and the graphics is really up to date....:dozey:

Great game...

Yeah, no idea, FEAR is better than Call of duty 2 anyway, so it doesn't make a difference to me.

just curious as to how gamers are gonna afford some of these games.
i mean theres no shortage of choice...and well not everyone is in the position to get them all, myself included.

i might start a thread on this.

how is fear better it would be no fun to play again since it wont scare you anymore

Yay got it- I have played it for a few hours now. The singleplayer campaign is fun! You can switch back and forth through the sides. Game runs super smooth- as smooth as COD 1 . I have all my settings maxed except for resolution at 1024X768. looks great! Very Fun and just like the original COD.

Welcome to the Hl2.net forums, I've seen staff flame games based on two or three screenshots.

"how can it be better if you havent played it?"

Both games have the demo out right? Its not the final game but it does show what the gameplay will be like.

The fun of fear isn't being scared, the firefights are really fun.

Just like Ravenholm in HL2. You're not scared the second or third time but you always find something to do with the physics.

I watched some in-game-footage clips and was disgusted by the lack of ragdoll physics.

No thank you.

Gamers are probably the wierdest species of human beings in the world.

They're kinda like women.

"Ew this dress has an extra button I hate it."

I wouldn't say disgusted but I was a tad bit disappointed. I thought that was pretty much a standard now. Still looks fun though.

Joule is a woman. :P

And I kinda agree with her- the animations (especially the falling ones) look extra sh*tty in a "next gen" game.

Pauly: That sounds great. :)
What kind of computer do you have btw?

Joule's a guy.

>_>

I, too, am disappointed of the lack of ragdolls... what makes a war game more perfect than ragdolls?

Yeah, the lack of ragdolls suck, but personally it's such a small and superficial detail that I can't imagine putting off a game because of it.

Ragdoll's are the standard now and it was a huge mistake not including them but the game still looks awsome.

And yes...Joule's a guy.

Gamer's are the biggest hypocrites: "OMG why does john carmack say graphics are more important than the story?!?! What an idiot!" "I only care about gameplay not graphics!!!" Then when everyone finishes pretending to not care about graphics, we see their true colors. Stop pretending to be so prestigious. Whether you all want to admit it or not, we all care about graphics just a tad more than gameplay.

I somewhat agree with you.
I think that....the graphic style and how the graphics make it all come togeather is equal to the gameplay.
Basically WoW has low polygons yes...but it's the style how the graphics look to the eye and how it meshes togeather and how everything seems to fit that basically make the game so much better.

It's like Starcraft. It's a 2d isometric game, it's based on 256 colors. Yet even though the graphics all come togeather and there very easy on the eyes and basically make the game all that much better than if you had 32bit 3D graphics.

I believe it how the graphics are basically laid out and how easy they are on the eyes and how all the graphics come togeather that matters. Not how many polygons etc... I would not still play starcraft if it's graphics came togeather bad and the whole style of it was off.

Every Blizzard game dosn't really push a new standard of graphics but rather all come togeather in ther eown unique way with a nice easy on the eyes style that fits each and everyone of there titles.

Think of all the characters you have in a normal scene, and having each of them be ragdoll would be a huge stress on the cpu (even though X360 has 3 cores, all launch titles still only use one core, like a normal PC) because to make them be realistic you would also need to have ragdolls collide with ragdolls (or else you would get complaints of "omg ragdoll clipping!111" )...

I honestly don't mind the canned animation. Sure I wish there were ragdolls, but I still don't feel that ragdolls are truly realistic yet, so it was IW's decision not to include them for performance and immersion reasons I guess...

I mean you've seen all the funny poses that HL2 characters end up in sometimes... It just breaks immersion...

I still care about graphics, but not more than gameplay. Any flaw in the visuals can be greatly compensated for by good gameplay, and judging by the demo, COD2 seems like it is doing exactly that. Hell, everything other than the death animations looks pretty sweet; the part where the British battleships blow up the German freighters looks particularly beautiful.

EDIT: Also, I much, much prefer death animations over badly-implemented ragdoll.

so I guess no one has the game yet? no early releases?

THe shipping date was last tuesday :P

There are about 200 full servers. Obviously its out :P I got it on wednesday, but if you live in europe thats a different story.
Multiplayer feels a lot the same yet a lot different. YOU DIE FAST. be prepared to get nade spammed. I cant think of much to say... Intense game just like COD1... multiplayer has 4 maps in it remade from cod1.

What maps have been remade from the original for multiplayer? I'm guessing...Dawnville, Carentan, Harbour...Railyard? :p

Would you say it's more like CoD:UO multiplayer (Sprinting, Cookable nades, Vehicles) or bog-standard CoD multiplayer? Being a bit of a CoD player myself I'm still deciding whether or not to get it for just the multiplayer.
