Call Of Duty 5 : World At War Trailer

I originally though that going back into WW2 was a mistake .. but after watching that, I want it now!

Just FYI, this game is being made by the team who made CoD3, not the guys who made CoD1, 2 or 4.

Hasnt this already been posted?

And I will say again, looks shit.

You'd think 5 games into a ****ing series and they'd be able to come up with a better suffix that doesn't include the words "World" and "War".

It's like, O SHIT NO RLY?

And of course it's a ****ing xbox exclusive.

Just noticed it says PC, but then again... by the time the watered down PC port makes it out, noone will really care about it.

Hmm, well suppose it was rather rushed, maybe get a better game done if they had more time but I have my doubts, I really didnt like the trailer.

Looks like utter shit. Only COD that deserves praise is 4. This goes back to the shit the others where.

Didn't get a chance to play 3 properly, but I certainly wouldn't call 1 or 2 shit ... each to their own though eh ;)

Huh? The only Call of Duty game to not come out on the PC has been Call of Duty 3, and all other versions have either launched on the PC and consoles simultaneously, or the PC first. Yes, it just so happens that Treyarch did Call of Duty 3, but don't assume based on their track record of one damn game they didn't even get a year to make is indicative of the quality of the new Call of Duty, or the release schedule.
Erm..

The following Call Of Duty's never came out for the PC:

Call of Duty: Finest Hour
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
Call of Duty 3
Call of Duty: Roads to Victory

Call of Duty 1 was excellent, and anyone who says otherwise is a cheap canadian prostitute.

I'll give it a shot, I don't expect anything amazing, but imo, THAT FLAMETHROWER LOOKS ****ING INSANE AND IS PROBABLY THE COOLEST ****ING THING EVER.

CoD4 is meh now, and this is also a change for the series so we'll see. All of you say back to WWII is fail, but its not like they can keep making modern warfare games as those will eventually get boring too.

There's tons of other wars that have never even seen a proper video game rendition.

Korean War?
WW1?
Revolutionary War?
Rhodesian Bush War?
Grenada?
Falklands?
Mogadishu conflicts?
Hell, Vietnam still has plenty of untouched potential for fantastic FPS experiences.
etc, I'd love to see FPSes/third person shooters/RTSes/etc renderings of these events.

How could you?

Mogadishu = Delta Force: Black Hawk Down. Not much else to do there.
The Korean war would be awesome, but recall Mercenaries and how close it came to being banned? Its illegal to depict conflict between the 2 nations.
Grenada would be rather interesting.
Revolutionary War, theres a lot of them, specifics?

EDIT: OH MY ****ING GOD, WHY NOT THE IRA DURING THE 1970'S THAT WOULD ****ING KICK ASS.

Mogadishu could be done as an RTS maybe, and another FPS from the perspective of the rebels and stuff would cool.
Revolutionary War could be done as an FPS, I realize it's been RTSed to death but there's virtually NO FPSes for it.

The revolutionary war would be boring as hell as an FPS. Seriously, fire one shot, reload, fire one shot, reload...

There's a civil war game, I know that.

So... are we going to get to kill some japs in this one?

lolworldwar2

You think they would have learned from how awesome CoD4 was. Mind you, this is the cod3 company anyway, so my expectations are low.

Since when?, if it was illegal then the law has been broken more times then Evil Knievels body.

South Korean Ban

Mercenaries was banned from shelves in South Korea for depicting war in its still-hostile theater, as was Ghost Recon 2. The delicate situation between North and South Korea means that the government is under severe pressure to ban media that depicts war between the two nations, for fear that it could further strain an already tense diplomatic situation.

Mercenaries was close to ban because it depicted a MODERN -NEW- korean conflict, I doubt an historical simulation would be banned.

Remember though, this also North Korea we're speaking of, if ANYTHING depicted NK badly, who knows what Kim Jong-il would do. It's way too risky to depict any kind of conflict anymore.

To the South Koreans it's pretty much the same conflict iirc.

I want to like it, but it just looks so familiar, even in a different setting
I love WW2 games, but I think enough is enough

Enough is enough until they actually tackle it with a new angle.

Not the same old fps or rts style.

I mean, it can still be either of those game types, but just do it DIFFERENTLY for chrissake.

honestly, i think people are overly harsh on Treyach, they aren't a bad developer, and as for CoD 3, they had a deadline and only one year to develop, whereas from what i understand, they've had a full development cycle for this.

i'm not saying this is going to be the most amazing game ever, but i think people are too quick to write it off.

Check out the HL2 mod "The Battle Grounds 2" or the first one for HL. It's a Revolutionary War mod and it's really fun.

Yeah, I know of it.

Can't stand it, it's just a half-assed port of the HL1 mod.

The sounds are shit, it looks like ass, the playerbase is full of history snobs and 10 year olds, and it has terrible melee combat.
Meh.

There's a big problem with using wars other than World War 2, and that is that it doesn't make the United States look like Big Damn Heroes. Let's face it, most Americans know about World War 2 and very little else.

When will those people realise that it was actually the Russians who did the most damage in World War 2, had those crazy bastards not been occupying the Eastern front, who knows what the outcome of the Western Front would have been. As a matter of fact, there would have been a hell of lot more soliders there.

I found the title stupid

"world at war"

no shet! a WWII game called world at war!?

You best not be talking about CoD, or CoD 2 :|

And yeah Ill just wait for gameplay vids before anything.

I thought CoD was brilliant, the first FPS I played that really got the adredaline going, thought it was very intense and fast-paced gameplay, really showed me a horrific viewpoint of the war, and just what the scale of the fighting would have been like. CoD 2 was just more of the same with better graphics, but still that was not a bad thing by any means.

Both multiplayers were exellent, until the hackers started flooding them...

If that video doesn't turn out to be almost completely scripted, then I'll be excited.

It looks like a bag of shit covered in honey. Sure the honey tastes sweet but when you get down and gag on pieces of shit you will know never to make the same mistake again.
