Okay, When I was watching T.V. yesterday this commercial showed up. After watching it I felt a weird mix of shame and repulsion. To me this commercial sums up how America treats war and killing, it's just some game we all can play and have fun! Plus, the tag line just says it all, THERE IS A SOLDIER IN ALL OF US! I dunno if I sound to preachy but I am interested in what you guys think.

I really don't think it has anything to do with America. There are war games from Europe and Asia as well. Arma 2 is from Europe and they take war gaming very seriously. They sell the same engine for military training, and yet also sell it as a game for enjoyment. Don't act like America is the only country that can turn war into a game.

What about this commercial makes it different than any other war game? Because it's putting everyday people in the places of soldiers? So? What does that mean? It's just metaphorical.

This commercial isn't offensive in that way.

clever. great mass appeal. interesting commentary. could have done with some more genuine actors and less actor cameos - but shit, it sells games

This commercial is basically the exact same thing as those "gunfinger shootout" commercials for the 360 launch, except a) it wasn't banned, and b) it's far more violent. I did enjoy it though.

The whole point of the commercial is to show how no matter what your status is in the world, you can all come together to play this game. It's like that old Coke commercial except much more violent. It's not really that violent considering absolutely no one gets shot. But it's a pretty good commercial. I won't buy the game but I can commend them on advertising on the actual appeal of the game - that everyone will be playing it.

It's definitely not some American facetious play on the violence of war. That's miles from where the commercial was pointed. I can't really express the level of crazy hippie that sounds like.

everyday normal highest paid nba players and nighttime tv hosts

I know the damn point, I just think it could have been executed more cleverly - it was cute, could have evoked a chuckle

Guys in suits and ties, a concierge, a random chubby chick, an NBA star, a chef guy, some old dude, a night time tv host. It's a coming together of people from all walks of life to do the same thing.

So if you have ideas of how it would have been better executed - how would you have done it? In what way would you convey that this game is a game for everyone to revel in virtual destruction as equals in separation from their normal life? Just curious... but I mean ... haters gonna hate.

Eh, I thought it was pretty amusing. Nothing overtly about America here, just accessibility.

Interesting trailer, but I have to agree, to me, it's a statement "War is fun!". It isn't.

How insensitive of you to play and enjoy games set in post-nuclear fallout. The message is clearly that nuclear disasters are fun.

Get out of here, Stalker.

thats too much disecting the video. war with friends is fun when on a console. this isn't a real thing happening. i see it as a fun way to realize that all people seem to like COD no matter what status

Fallout doesn't advertise shooting other real people as fun.

We should just advertise all FPS games as boring from now on.

I get the damn parody StarBoB - I just think it's fairly stupid and overplayed. GET IT, PLAYED? HAHA. I think it's a definite charmer and will pick up my spirits and sell the game.

but imagine this level of dedication...

and they're batshit crazy

I've seen ads for Call of Duty Black Ops in places that have nothing to do with gaming or even computers. Jay Jays, City Beach, etc.

"There is a soldier in all of us."

Clearly this is social engineering by the Illuminati to condition everyone to what the future holds ahead.

Doesn't really seem like a proper portrayal of CoD MP though. Too many women, not enough 13 year olds.

probably should be noted that at no specific time is anyone actually injured, killed or shot - it isn't saying ''war'' is fun, it's highlighting the entertainment found in such a game through the use of big weapons and loud explosions. those are fun (to some, not my cuppa personally) to the audience that the COD games are marketed towards. at the end of the day, it's people enjoying what isn't too desimiliar to something akin to airsoft or paintball, but obviously portrayed in a semi-realistic manner which the COD games strive for... though only in aesthetic, as the gameplay isn't realistic. irregardless, whatever your stance on war or violence is, it still doesn't stop us from enjoying shooting up pixels.
