Can anyone else play STALKER CS?

Ok, so i really love Stalker SOC, and CS seems so much better, much more atmospheric, better graphics. BUT, my game keeps crashing to where i have to put my computer to sleep, then wake it up for the game to close. ive tried playing 5 times and i keep stumbling upon this in different spots! this game looks amazing, but its sad i can't even get through it. You guys having this problem too? because it can't be my computer which is top-notch...

Which patch are you on?
What video driver are you using?
What are your PC specs?

This is a great game, let's try and get it running for you.

All joking aside, update to the latest drivers, scan for viri/spyware, defrag, then give it a shot. Also what CR0M said.

Are you trying to put the computer in hibernation or some silly power saving mode whilst running a full screen game? If you are stop doing that.

Do what cyberpitz said, and if you're trying to put your computer into sleep mode while playing... do what Kyorisu said and stop doing that.

Also do what CR0M said and post your system specs.

Thx - made it in 3Dmax before HL2 was released and it was my first avatar here, thought i'd go retro.

Apart from a few fixable bugs, Clear Sky also ran without a problem on mine too until the corrupted save game bug hit at red forest. The 1.5.04 patch fixed that. Tried 1.5.05, which caused crashes every few minutes, so rolled back to 1.5.04 again. Very stable.

I love the statement people often make like yours. I spent around 2 gran on mine, and its custom. I put it together myself and every other game works flawlessly. I am into computers and i know a good computer from a bad computer. I said my computer was top-notch hoping i would avoid the question "What are your specs?" but clearly that didn't work. Trust me, its not that my computer is old and outdated and thats causing the game to crash. I have a GTX 280 OC2, 1066 DDR2 RAM, Velociraptor 300gb HDD, Q6600 Quad processor, 780i SLI FTW mobo. Does that sound like a bad computer to you? Also, i didn't say what you said and i didn't sound like an infant, show some respect.

Anyway, im not really putting my computer to sleep while running the game. When im playing the game, it crashes. Resulting in my monitor to go black, and only being able to see my mouse icon when i move it around. I've tried everything to get the game to exit, but the only thing that works is putting my comp to sleep, and then logging back on. But i dont put my computer to sleep while running games all the time, only in this instance when the game freezes and crashes..

ok, I hate that question too, but for that 1 in a gajillion chance it might be your system, it's worth asking. You have a good enough rig, so do I, but I still had to install the right game patch and graphics driver. Without those you might as well have a zx spectrum.

So...

which patch are you using?
what graphics driver are you using?

...and out of interest, how much memory do you have and what cooling solution do you use?

Also, generally when I have problems running a game, I go to the relevant game forum and either do a search or trawl through the tech boards until I find something. 9 times out of ten that fixes the problem.

Its all that can be done, they're still relatively stupid. I just surprise them, they all start yelling in Ukrainian. I hid by corner, they come around corner and get headshotted. I only have to reload fast enough (there were 15 in that damn place). I'm scared to death to think what the red forest will be like now.
