I've got a pretty tight system, but I've got a shi**y video card -
ATI Radeon 9200SE 128MB...

Here's the rest:

HP Pavilion P4 3.2 GHZ
160GB HD
512MB DDR2700 RAM (plan to upgrade to 1MB)
19" flat screen monitor

Can I run HL2 at a decent clip?

You can, on low settings.

Instead of upgrading to 1GB of RAM, upgrade your video card.

6600GT, or 6800GT are good options, and if you are tight on cash, the 9600XT is a good choice. Make sure you have an AGP slot first!

you can, I'm running it with a 2.6ghz p4, 512mg RAM, and a geforce fx 5200 128mg.

If I can run it with a good framerate and graphics on medium, you can too.
