Can i Reset all my settings?

Ok, yell at me if u want, but i HAD a wall hack for Counter Strike, but i now i completely deleated it, because it got boring and i wanted to get better, cause hacks just make u worse, but now when i join a server, my settings get changed back.

Like R_decals for example changes to r_decals -# , but i want decals, so everytime i join a server i have to type in r_decals 9999999. I have changing the config.cfg file, and it loads in, untill i load a map, or join a server, then some how all my settings change again, everytime.

And i can not bind any keys because all the keys just change when i load a diff server, that i am in when i set them.

Is there any way to reset all my counter strike settings, with out deleating it and downloading it again? because i have dial up(28.8k) and it will take FOREVER, and when i first got it i went to a firends house, and now i am to lazy.

Any one else have these problems?

Try these but beware, you used to hack and i dont like hackers so they might not work. Delete your counter strike folder and re-download all the content from steam to get the previous settings, it will take weeks to re-download but at least it keeps you off the circuit for a bit eh? please never hack again, i hope you got caught and get a delayed ban!

I wanted to reset my things too (I don't hack...) and I clicked delete cache or something without reading it. Now I'm stuck updating...

P.S. It's just stuck at Preparing to play... how long will this take (36.6k).

[Edit] ...Whoa, whoa, whoa... you mean I have to re-download it? Can't I just re-install it from disk?!

do u know what cl_cmdrate and cl_updatrate do?
They are how fast they update from the server every second.. so that wouldn't help, just make it lag big time.

aye hes right. My suggestions 'dial up dan' if thats your real name...alters your rate funnily enough which are usually set on rate 25000, cl_updaterate 101, cl_cmdrate 101 (which is wrong as they are LAN rates, and 20000, 70, 60 is better) but for you delete that file the other guy did and steam will make a new one for you in due time and it will be back to normal. Be warned though, you may still be banned bumbaclart!

problem is NonStopableForce that you admitted to be a hacker. That is the one thing all of us here despise more than anything else. i realize you may repent your sins (heh), but nevertheless you pissed people off in the while you were hacking.

the thing is no one could tell i was hacking because i did it on dial up, and it is competely off my system so if vac2 has somehitng that looks at the files they should be the same, besides the crappy settings it set.

And i didnt even have to admint that i did hack, but i did any way, to be onhist.

Hmmm, cheaters suck....bad! You should never have cheated in the first place, tbh, all you are getting is your just deserts imo.

But regards this topic, I've not got a hack on my PC, but I have messed with CS:S's cl_updaterate/cl_rate etc etc, and I was wandering if there is an option to allow me to reset everything to the beginning, rather than having to reset the options individually?

I ask for this as everything was fine since Steams latest update, and since then the game has been VERY jumpy. It's not lag as I'm getting a ping between 35-70 on all the servers I like to visit. It's also not FPS lag, as I'm getting anywheer between 60-120 FPS whilst playing, no loss or gain at all. But still the game is very stuttering.

You guys have to make the simplest things seem so hard.

Go in the cfg folder in your Counter-Strike:Source directory and delete the config. Now the next time you go on Source it will create a new config file for you, problem solved.

For the people bashing him, give this guy a break. He's just made the first step into the right direction, so I on the other hand will congratulate him.
