My internal sata ports are ****ed as they simply wont respond, or when they do it just crashes my system no matter what OS im running or what hard drive im using. So i thought maybe i could connect my internal sata hdd to the external E-Sata port on the back of the computer (with an E-sata to Sata cable). But im not sure as to how its compatable, or if it supplies its own power to the hard drive since i wont have a power cable connected to the hard drive itself. Or maybe i can still have the hdd inside the case connected to the PSU and run the e-sata cable through one of the pci vent holes and connect into the back.

I have no experience with E-Sata, so any info is helpful :)

ESATA doesn't provide power. External HDDs need their own power supply. So you would have to use a power connector from your PSU to your HDD, as you would if you hooked it up via SATA.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I haven't tried it and don't know for a fact if it won't create a nuclear explosion.

You can read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esata#eSATA

I've got a SATA to ESATA adapter in my 2nd computer, giving me an ESATA port on the back of the computer. It looks like it's just a wire (I don't see any other electronics), so yeah, the opposite should work.

thx, il guess il try it out. Hopefully it wont explode lol.
