Can someone with experience check this build for me?

I've already got a video card and 650w Corsair psu ready. Would the psu be able to handle this? Also, does everything in the list look good? Just wanted some opinions.

Make sure you have enough molex connectors for this(don't know what video card+PSU you have so look for yourself):
Some guy on Newegg said:
Pretty good airflow with its 4 fans. Three of them have four-pin molex connectors (the big, white, flimsy ones that connect to the power supply and not the motherboard) which for some people is a con but it's good for me because a lot of motherboards dont have enough 3-pin fan connectors and then you'll have to buy adapters.

Also, you can have a better-performing LGA1156+i5-750 combo for $15 more.
Asus P7P55D + i5-750

For the rest it looks good after a quick look.

Video card is an ati radeon 5670 and I mentioned the psu was a corsair 650w.

The i5-750 is a lot better: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/109?vs=102

And I'm pretty sure you can get an LGA1156 motherboard for as little as $100.

So this build would be cheaper, better, cooler, and use less power.

Also the i5-760 came out a few days ago, but I think it's just a small clock increase, possibly allowing higher overclocks - not sure I haven't read much about it. Maybe the 750 will come down in price soon, or the 760 will replace it (at the same price) in the coming months.

I see. Swapped out the originally listed mobo and cpu for the ones recommended. Price is still way lower than I expected.

Oh, are there any cables i'm forgetting? I'm thinking the psu has all the cables, but that might not be the case.

I didn't check out the RAM, that's on you.

Why go with the caviar green 750 GB for $69?

The Samsung F3 will destroy that thing in speed. And it's 1000GB and $75

There’s only one way to say it – the Samsung Spinpoint F3 is the fastest hard disk drive we’ve ever had the pleasure of testing here at bit-tech, having ripped through our benchmarks like a butchers knife through wet loo roll.
Once again Samsung has produced a simply superb hard disk drive, delivering fantastic sequential and real world performance and, to the undoubted chagrin of the completion, has done so for a bargain price.
Samsung has produced a simply stunning drive in the form of the Spinpoint F3 – of that there can be no doubt. The dual platter 7,200RPM design has been optimised in a way that Samsung’s engineers should be commended for giving the F3 such a significant performance advantage over the competition, despite all three major manufacturers shipping drives that, on paper, are so similar.

I don't know, the last thing I was thinking about was color, but it was a big HDD for not too much money. Swapped it out with the 1tb drive.

Ok, updated list with suggestions. Everything looks good to me.

Is that cooler also compatible with the new CPU you picked out?

And are you sure you want that motherboard? I'm assuming it's a SLI/CF board at that price. Or maybe it's 6GBs or USB 3.0?

To be honest, I don't know what I want... kinda. I know I do want a DDR3 system. This seems to be it.

My current system can play games, new games even, but it's still slowing down a little at some points because it's not powerful enough.

Yes, the cooler is compatible with a number of CPUs.

The Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 is the upgraded version of the renowned Freezer 7 Pro. With the flexible mounting design, this version is compatible with the Intel Core i7, Core i5, as well as AMD Socket AM3. Featuring an ultra quiet 92mm fan and 6 heatpipes, the Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 is one of the most efficient and quiet CPU coolers for power users.

Cooler sounds like junk, I'd be scared to use it. I don't know. I'm using the stock one (i have the same CPU). It's not running cool or anything, but the little shit works and was easy to install.

I am considering ordering a new cooler because I somehow expect some kind of advantage, but many of those cooler reviews terrify me.

Seemed to get positive reviews. Can you find a better one? Or one that you would trust.

I picked that motherboard(P7P55D) because of it's great build quality(have one myself too), look if it suffices your needs. Asus also make mATX versions of it which are cheaper, but which obviously come with less slots.
It's been like 9 months since I built my PC - Not sure if it's still one of the best bang for buck/quality motherboards. Do some research yourself :)

The Scythe Mugen 2 Rev. B(note that only Rev. B has brackets for socket 1156) cools much better and is quieter than the Freezer 7 pro, read this.

That Scythe looks cool. Wonder if it'll fit in my case. I was also trying to avoid a cooler where I would have to mess with the back of the mobo.

Scythe shows motherboard compatibility for that cooler on their webpage. You just have to worry about case size (including side fans, if applicable) and RAM (RAM heatsinks can interfere with aftermarket coolers).

I would have to mess with the back of the mobo.
There are some that don't, but they may not be a better choice. And since you are building the computer from the ground up, you have no real disadvantage for mounting from the back.

Yep, but you'll need a second person to hold the motherboard/heatsink if you want to place it correctly(without getting more force on one side compared to the other).

For coolers of such a size+weight I wouldn't use a (however it's called) system that lets you just click it on the motherboard.

Okay then. Do you think the case I chose is a decent sized one? I wanted a nice one that didn't cost too much.

couple of interesting deals here: http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemai...-IGNEFL080510-_-EMC-080510-Index-_-E0-_-IT#IT

I see a couple of sales on cases, motherboards, and CPUs that you might be interested in. The Antec 900, and the AMD Phenom looks like it's much cheaper than usual, and I see some really inexpensive AMD boards. There's an inexpensive Rosewill case.

Keep in mind, that sometimes they try to get rid of things that are problematic with these sales. They encourage you rush without researching. So don't overlook the reviews or the details. I can vouch for the Antec 900 case, however.

By the way, this is a 48 hour sale.

Sucks that I never have money when this type of stuff pops up. I always get paid when it's nothing I need.

Just wait and save your money. They have sales all the time, and you need to be ready. Black Friday will be here before you know it too. So, if you're patient, you might save over $100.

I saved about $60 or so on Black Friday last year, but all I bought was a CPU/Memory/MoBo, whereas you are buying nearly a complete system.

Yeah, i'm going to go ahead and order the case around tuesday. I'll have more money left just in case something useful pops up.

Yeah, when stuff has free shipping and on sale, there's no reason not to buy the stuff individually. Keep in mind the combos sometimes will save you even more though.

Is newegg being slow for you? Took like a whole minute to load my account page.

Edit: Apparently they're giving away free wrist straps with the case. I added it to my cart and a wrist strap popped in for free. Cool stuff. I've never used one though.
