Can we have the power to delete our own threads

As the title suggests, this would be a good way of deleting discussions that basically run out of steam and start to become repetetive after awhile.

This implies that we have the power to delete our own threads ONLY. Those users who have threads that have been locked by a moderator will get daily reminders (via e-mail) to delete them.

Off course, several other people on this site might have different views or variations of the above, which they can express now.

It would serve no purpose at all. Anyway, if the conversation runs out of steam, that's no reason to delete it. No body else would be able to see what was contributed. Same with closing threads really.

If conversations run out of steam, they tend to also go off topic, in which case a moderator will close or delete the thread.

It's too much time and effort considering it is our job.

Naturally we accept deletion/close requests through the reported posts system from the original author. If a good reason is provided - we will certainly delete or close the thread for you.

I would support a system where you can delete a post you made within a 2 minute time limit. This would enable users to delete double posts they have made by mistake whilst stopping the deletion of long threads that other users have contributed towards...

What if you accidently make a thread that makes us look like a complete idiot?? For example we post really old news or post something completely wrong. I would say a delete thread option there would be very welcome!

But what if most of you guys are sleeping and we make a thread and no moderator is online. Most of you guys are from the UK, that's 8 hours ahead of Canada.

I like the timelimit idea...sometimes I'd like to do that.

Did I mention I hate the 15 minute edits? Sometimes I get new info and want to edit my main topic post...but NO!
